Does any company produce an aluminum small block chevy engine? I've seen aluminum big blocks and even the 4.3L V6 but not a small block. Why is this?

Camaro/ Firebird and Corvette LS1 motors are all aluminum. You can get a complete engine with accessories, wiring, computer from GM brand new for $5500

The LS1 is your best bet 'cause you can get it brand new & turnkey at any Chevy dealership for about $5,500 (as mentioned above).

You can also get a bare aluminum block from GM (siamesed or otherwise), and aluminum heads from dozens of sources. Pretty sure the bare blocks go for a minimum of $3k each though :(

Be careful if you build an aluminum block, all the clearances need to be adjusted because of the different expansion of the aluminum vs Iron. People who have experience building aluminum chevys know all the tricks, so just be sure you use one of them, or at least pick their brains.
