Please post here, your methods of bleeding the hydraulic clutch. I have a 88 yj with an internal slave and french wonder tranny.

David thanx:flipoff2:

I really need a straight answer here though, I want to make sure I do it the right way and not blind. I have never had to bleed a clutch before, and want to learn the right way the first time.

Just giving you some hell. Do it just like brakes, pump it and take a 9/16 and 1/4 wrenches and relieve the pressure, retighten and repeat process.  :)

Buy a Mity Vac brake bleeder kit. I just did my clutch with it and it works fine on clutches too.

I've replaced the hydro slave/throwout bearing in my YJ twice, tried to bleed it like brakes the first time, didnt have much luck. Ended up just opening the bleeder and filling the master, let gravity do the work. Let the fluid run through for a bit (think I ran about half a bottle through) and close off the bleeder, good to go. Had to come up with some way to do it by myself. If ya do end up trying the pump it up method, careful ya dont suck the rbber insert from the cap down into the bore of the master, drove me nuts trying to figure that one out till i felt around in the master.

just have your helper do the pedal pressin and you do the wrenchin. 1/4" wrench on the bleeder at the bellhouse if you have the internal slave. don't need to have lid on the master when bleeding- just keep the master full. loosen bleeder.....press pedal to floor....tighten bleeder............release pedal. repeat till air gone.

I second the miti vac. Thy cost like $30, but they are very easy to use, and work very well. Thats what I used when I changed my slave out. And I used tfor my brakes.

Works great!
