I need to do a volvo to Cruiser adapter to put my Volvos under my FJ55. I want opions of cutting the Volvo bolt pattern and welding on Cruiser sized flange... Thoughts?

Hey Brian,
I think it would work fine, but I would get it balanced at a driveshaft shop otherwise there will be some vibration and possibly bearing and seal damage in the long term. But not a bad idea, but if you need custom driveshafts anyways I would probably take that route, Volvo on one side, Cruiser on the other... Also, I would remove the flange before doing any welding to it...

Congrats, I didn't hear about those!

Andre, I think I got it backwards... I'm thinking of the pinnion yoke.... yoke.. yeah that's the word...

Is welding on the pinnion yoke okay? I am going to remove it, turn it down on a lathe, machine a new Cruiser sized piece out of tool steel, and tig weld it up.

I thought about an adapter, but I can't afford the driveshaft space right now.

BJ- The volvo is much smaller than the Toyota. The Volvo used LR series size U joints and bolt flanges. Volvos are popular with Series trucks because the front axle litterally bolts up.

Im thinking the volvos have the same pinon flange pattern as land rovers you could use that yoke/flange for CHEAP.

Leafsprung- I want to stay with Land Cruiser sized joints. If they're maintained you'll never hear of any breakage.

I'm going to go with welding a new flange on the yoke. I haven't gotten any negatives, if it busts I'll have Jesse or someone else build me a new one!

Thanks for the input!
