I will tell you mine... 77, 345,727,blah,blah. Keep in mind this is on the East coast. My first vehicle I ever owned... I miss my Scout:(
O.K. I welded my tailgate shut to keep the rattles down, I welded hooks behind the backseat to put a come-along between them so the sides would quit shaking. The passenger seat was ready to fall through the floor, the doors would not shut completly. Keep in mind I was a high school kid on a limited budget, so body work was not were I wanted to spend my money. I wanted Tsl's lockers and lift, so I did what I had to do to keep it together. My dad bought it before I was 16 for $1,500 with 30,000 miles on it. I was just missing old Bessy and though I would share my rust horror story with you. I will get another one someday!:) This was back in like 1989.

Any good rust stories?:)

one of my newest scouts ( in order of procurement not actual age) a 67 800 has rust between the inner fender and floor pan in the back and last time i took it out i laid it on a boulder on the passenger side and the whole rocker panel fell off it had been previously repaired using......
1.styrofoam
2.the brass edging people use for linoleum in their house
3. fiberglass
4. house screen
5.coffee can lids
6. and of course no less than 2 inches of bondo
it would have been less work to fabricate a piece of sheetmetal and weld it in i would assume
but this scout is no looker (its already been laid on its side probably by mister bodyman him self) so im not worried ill just finish the cut and make some rocker skid that fit in place

I patched a hole in the passenger floorboard from the leaks from the AC with a baking sheet and adhesive caulk. Mine was not so bad.

But . . .

The worst I ever saw was one of the local in VA had this 77 Scout II. The rust on the firewall was so bad the door FELL OFF when he go POed at his GF and slammed it forward.

We used to store soda cans and such in the holes in the quarter panels right behind the doors on my Scout II. It was cool, I could stick my whole arm up in there - made for easy speaker wiring access! Then I replaced the tub, now I have to wire my speakers the hard way. :D
