: Ford 2100 carburetor
BadCam 09-02-2003, 03:13 PM Does anyone know where i can get a ford 2100 carb (rebuilt)
we got one off a 84 van and its a peice of junk.
what i realy need is a part # because when you call part stores
they want to know what year car, model and all that crap if you
tell them you want a autolite 2100 carb they just dont have enough info:confused:
what is the best 2100 carb to get for a 89 yj 4.2:confused:
apeters89 09-02-2003, 03:27 PM You can do a search for 4.2 carb and my name and I promise you will find the exact automobile I quoted to get mine from Autozone. Hell, I even posted pictures. and it's known as a Motorcraft 2100 to most people.
Tomco 2-284.
Application 68 Ford Bronco with a 289.
Note this carb has no PCV port, so you will have to drill the adpater etc to make a port for it.

mikeswrangler 09-02-2003, 07:25 PM ok.. let me guess.. thats the varible venturi carb right??

I went to a carter carb for a while.. ran better but still didnt run good .. sold the van to a dealer.. lol
as a trade in..lol
mikeswrangler 09-02-2003, 07:28 PM all my local parts houses said I need to go to the fuel injection system .. that was also the recomendation from the carb vender

Not a variable venturi carb at all. They are a very reliable 70s vintage two barrel carb that makes a good swap onto a Jeep 4.2L.
As to the original posters question, if your parts guys don't know what a Motorcraft 2100 carb is, you need to find a better parts house. It is sad that good competent parts technicians are becoming an endangered species. Most of the guys working at Autozone, Kragens, Shuckes, whatever, are a bunch of morons that don't know jack shit.
GPERX4 09-03-2003, 04:16 AM You are wanting the Motorcraft 2100 with the number1.08 on the side . The 2150 1.08 is a good one also that is what I'm running and some do have the pcv port. Have them get a carb and if it has the 1.08 on the side take, if it doesn't send it back and have try a different number. It is a great swap.
Grapehead 09-03-2003, 05:40 AM i have a spacer plate with the PCV nipple on it if anyone wants it...
86CJ7Laredo 09-03-2003, 05:50 AM Tell them it is for a 72 Ford F100 with a 302 and that you want the 2100 1.08.
mikeswrangler 09-03-2003, 07:13 AM thanks for the info.. I hate that $2000.00 carb from ford..
thats what it costs from the dealer..
BadCam 09-03-2003, 11:29 AM ok thanks everyone:)

offroadmission 06-21-2005, 06:32 AM anyone?
apeters89 06-21-2005, 08:11 AM is this tomco #2-455?
I'm glad to see search still works. What exactly is a tomco number? Is tomco an auto parts supplier or is this something else?
The vehicle I asked for was a 1978 (I think, I don't want to go look it up in search again) AMC AMX with a 304. It got me exactly what I needed.
jeep family 06-21-2005, 10:32 AM I have one that I will sell you cheap. It always worked great for me before I went EFI.
Call me because I am heading away from the puter for a few days.

tomco is the remanufacturer of some of these carburetors. i went to the local parts stores and they all said that the carb for a 78 amc amx has been discontinued. the carb listed @ oreilly auto parts is a tomco part. just wanted to know if anyone had used a tomco reman carb and if this was the correct part #.
SpringOverYJ 06-21-2005, 07:34 PM Motorcraft 2100 - Champion 6-32A from Advance Auto Parts. It does not have a nipple for PCV or an electric choke. Using the factory spacer with a nipple solves the PCV problem. If you still have the Carter carb (with electric choke) from your YJ, you can remove the bimetallic spring from the Carter carb's choke pot, flip it over and reinstall it (so the free end moves in the oposite direction as before). This is necessary due to the fact that the springs more oposite directions in the Carter and Motorcraft carbs. Also the choke pot for the Carter may be a little big for the Motorcraft, but the outside can be filed or sanded down to fit. Just in case someone actually searches for this later.
offroadmission 06-21-2005, 08:07 PM what factory spacer?
SpringOverYJ 06-21-2005, 08:25 PM All the Fords I have seen (only started paying attention to then the last couple of months) that don't have an EGR valve have an aluminium an inch or so thick with a nipple on the back. I think the Fords that had an egr valve had the EGR valve on the plate. Don't know how the Jeeps were set up though.
86CJ7Laredo 06-21-2005, 09:09 PM I have one of the factory spacers with the nipple on it. I didnt use it I just ran the PCV line to a manifold vacuum source.

only "spacer" I used was the adapter for the bolt pattern.
offroadmission 06-22-2005, 08:50 AM my carb came back with 1.14 on the side. will this one work or do i need to send it back and try to get a 1.08?

can i just tee off of the brake booster vacuum?
scoutjeep360 06-22-2005, 08:07 PM I pulled a 2100 off of an 82 Ford Granada at the JY. It had a spring loaded float, electric choke and two plastic baffles in the float bowl that prevented slosh. I used a piece of steel fuel line to raise the bowl vent. It was better than any Holley, Carter etc. I've ever run. Also, wire the fast Idle solenoid to a switch on the dash and you have an idle up feature that you can use for running your compressor or for fast idle warm up as it's intended. It's the only 2 barrel I'd run.

on a 6cyl that might be a bit much, but I'm sure someone on here will know for sure.
Robert 06-23-2005, 12:58 PM my carb came back with 1.14 on the side. will this one work or do i need to send it back and try to get a 1.08?
Should be ok. The number refers to the size of the venturis.
1.08 is just a little smaller than the 1.14.
cj5_fan 06-30-2005, 08:45 AM To answer the original question of where to get one, any parts store should be able to get it for you. Just give them the part numbers listed below.
Holly is remanufactuing this carb. they can be reached at 888-465-5395 to check stock or request a build.
The part numbers for the 2100 and 2150's are as follows:
for a 1.08 2100 w/ heat choke, use 64-5305 for an electric choke, use 64-5176
Other valid numbers with varying heat or electric choke setups include 64-5177 and 64-5170
If you want a 2150 with 121mm venturie, use 64-5308.
