I'm already on record as saying that Hillary won't run in 2004 because that would hurt her chances in 2008.

She has her sights set on 2008 because the only Republican that can beat her that year is Powell, who doesn't want the job.

For 2004 the nomination will go to Dean.

He's so far left he makes Al Gore look like a centrist, which of course is part of his charm.

Plus, the Democratic party doesn't really like him. So if he loses, they won't care.

the job. Also, Cheney won't run in 2008 so it will be wide open for both parties.

There was some speculation a while back that Cheney would
"bow out", using his health as a reason, and let Bush pick a new
running mate for 2004. The name that was being mentioned was
Condaleeza Rice. She would have been a very tough foe for Hilary.

I have no problem with a women president, just not that Hillary.....

Some have speculated that the Hillary threat is one of the biggest reasons the California recall must go republican. The sequence goes like this, if a republican gets in and does good then a republican swing might be seen here. With that, Hillary won't get the all important electoral vote from California.

I still say the the citizens of the US *in general* are not ready or willing to have a woman as "top dog" just yet. Most are however willing to give a woman a trial run in the position of VP first...

That works against Hilary because her ego is so big, there is no way she could sit still for 4 years as VP and *then* run for Pres.

Yeah, but it's a shame we aren't going to see it. Cheney has
already come out and said he's on the ticket. Don't get me wrong,
I think Cheney's been an excellent V.P. , but having Rice in there
as V.P. would set the republicans up much better for 2008.

There really are legitimate concerns with putting a woman in the Oval office without having her as VP. We live in a world where there are MANY countries still operating where woman are nat respected as leaders or holders of power. That puts is in a situation where a femal President WILL be tested by these leaders and countries... that is not exactly what I want to throw into the current mix we are having with certain countries who ALREADY are looking for an excuse to come down on us.

I have heard some talk of her leaving the administration after
the election and moving back to California where it's rumored
that she may run for governor in 2006. If she does, and wins
that would help set her up for a presidential run in 2008.
