: How do I get stronger power steering?

I just found out my Bronco II steering gear interchanges with tons of stuff up to F-350 Super Doo Doo's. So I've appearantly got a good steering gear. Will a better pump increase the power? or is it a limitation of stock ford steering gears?

So are the bigger boxes stronger bolt in ones then? Mine is taking a crap so I am planning on replacing it. So if I get one for say a 90 f350 it will be a stonger box? Will it use my same pitman arm?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "power", but I do knwo that if you put a smaller pulley on the pump that you can increase your gallons/minute. I can't remember if this will just make it turns faster, or stronger, or both.

They are the exact same box up till 97 or something. I just always assumed I had a light duty steering gear and pump. When I found out the steering gear was used in the super doo doo's I began wondering why my PS sucked so bad. According to the link below, the pump is the limiting factor. Pitman arms will most likely be different, but that's no big deal.

jdjanda thanks for the link. I think Ill try that out. Will this mod shorten the life of the pump?

you can't do that to a Ford Box though, your best bet is to just swap a Sag pump on there, they work about 100x better then a ford pump

There is a shop in Everett by L.O.W.E.S. ( less of what eagle sold ) I can't remember the name but it is rite there between them and Everett industrial they made my high pressure hose for under $20.

Lowes sucks big time. Every once in awhile, I have a relapse and go in there. Everytime, I quickly remember why I vowed never to go in that place again. They fawking suck!

Less Of What Eagle Sold for sure. They cut their inventory by over 50%, and are always out of stock of the remaining inventory. Fired all the decent help, and have 1 fucking moron working a register so the line is a mile fucking long.

And to top it off, they got rid of the hotdog stand outside.

FUCK LOWES!!   :flipoff: :flipoff:

Is there a Saginaw pump that will fit the Ford aluminum bracket and will take the Ford serpentine pulley?

Look for the bracket and Sag pump off a Ford van with the same engine as yours.

Yes and I am not sure. I modified an aluminum bracket to get the sag pump to fit and there are a ton of the pumps around that have the serpentine setup on them already.
