: M715 with Rockwells
Hi! Refugee from the land cruiser boards, mostly. I have a '67 M715, and I'm thinking about putting rockwell axles under it...anyone here done this? Just my initial eyeballing says it's gonna be fairly easy, except that if I want rear steer, I'll have to move the rear springs from outboard the frame rails to under the frame rails to have any steering lock...I think I can leave the front pretty much as is...I think the swap from spring under the stock dana 60, to spring over the rockwell will create just about enough room for the pinion to clear everything, and the axle offsets are the same...Anyway, if this is ground that's already been broken here, I'd like tips and pix.

I don't know if you watch "Trucks" tv on TNN (whoops, Spike), but they had one on there.
It was kick ass, Rockwells, 44" boggers.
Despite the fact that (or because?) I'm a tv producer/director for a living, I don't have cable. So, nope, never saw it:( Don't remember the guys name? Maybe a tnn search will get me something...
Wes in TN 09-03-2003, 08:21 AM The guys name is Chad Molitor, he's from TN. Last I heard the thing was for sale. A quick search on google yielded this (http://www.jpmagazine.com/featuredvehicles/17419/). It's since been rolling on Rockwells and 44's.
Yeah, Travis Hickman, that's the guy that did the swap for him. He initally had it sprung over on stock axles, and Travis did that as well. I have his (very old) email address, and have ged him, but if anyone has something that not years old for him, that'd be cool...Thanks!

Dude, that's Roger's truck, not Chad's truck:) Chad's truck in the one in the jp mag article above, and was built by travis hickman. It sits on stock springs repositioned under the frame rails, and is rear steer as well, rolls on 44 swamps. Rogers truck is on huge lift springs, running 53" michelins. He lives right down the road from me. I did a search. If anyone has contact info for chad or travis, that's helpful...thanks!

Been there, belonged for years:) Thanks for the heads up tho:) Searched there, and found a couple of rockwell rigs, but not the guy I'm looking for. The other 2 guys that have done it did it with huuuuge lift springs. I wanna stay low, and I know Chad's truck was done on stock springs, moved form outboard to under the frame rails. This appeals to my design goals. I think I have Chad's email now, but am stll looking for Travis Hickman....

jeepcj 09-04-2003, 01:08 PM My M715 has GMC 2.5 ton axles they are stronger and way cheaper than rockwells. I run 14.00 x 20 tires 49" tall. I would post a PIC but I do not know how.
Are they dimensionally about equivilant? what springs did you use? Did you move them from outboard to under the frame rails?

I changed the link that I posted before. Chad is a fellow club member and I got that email address from our most recent club roster. Try it again, if it doesn't work send me a PM and I'll give you his phone number. He probably will not answer your post on our club board.
