parts stores usually just ask for eng type. did you swapped either the tranny or engine in or are they both the stockers?

The engine is the stock 86, but the tranny is out of a 91

The tranny, the throw out bearing rides on the tranny input shaft not the motor. So if they ask you what year or motor tell 'em it's a 91.

Just go prepared open your left door look on the tag get the date of construction off the tag, also get the engine size off the tag inside your engine compartment. You sould already know what kind of vehicle you are driving so I think you can remember that part. The reason for all this shiatty info being needed is.... computers, the local parts stores live by these suckers and to make the correct part # come up for you they may need this information.

Since you have changed out portions go in with that info too, they should be able to help you with that too. My parts store clerks run when they see me walk in. My Willys is a nightmare for them since nothing is stock. Make a long story short bought it as a basket case had no idea what I had since it had been through 3 others before me. Used to go in and spend about 2 hrs finding the correct parts for it. They'd always make the newbie help me so they would either get what they were doing or quit.
