I am trying to switch a mustang up and lower intake on to a truck motor and just found a problem, the truck intake has a knock sensor and the mustang intake does not and there is no place for it. can I remove this sensor or is does it have to be in there to work right. Do other car lowers have a knock sensor or am I screwed, I have heard that gt 40 uppers will fit the truck bottoms but I dont know where to look for a gt40 except new and there big bucks. what to do now:confused:

If the vehicle is OBDII then the Knock sensor definatly has to be there. Earlier OBD and EEC systems are different, some care, some don't.:p
I know that didn't answer your question, but sorry:D
Ever thought about getting the stock truck intake extrud honed (did I spell that right??). I know for a fact that a stock mustang upper and lower can have enough meat taken out of them to out flow the cobra upper and lowers.. not sure aout the GT40.
At least that way there is no worry about sensors;)

gt40 intake is on the v8 explorers
swaping intakes sounds like you got ones off 2 models with different engine mgmt systems for the swap to be easies you need the intakes from a donor vehicle with the same type of engine mgmt system you are going to run

What year Mustang upper and lower? 88 or so to 93 if you use the computer from that year you won't need the knock sensor. But you have to have the Mustang harness or equal and the proper sensors. You can't just bolt on the upper and lower and try to splice in a bunch of 'other' wires. Anything can be done but getting it done properly might be more time and money than doing it the right way first. Ever hear that before?
simply have the car intake drilled and tapped for the knock sensor.

Alpo I am glad you said that. I just thought about doing that exact thing. Since that sensor is acually in a dead space in the intake it sould be able to be just drilled in and tapped. If it is that easy I can fix this problem real quick and easy. the only other problem I see is that where can I get the conecters for the fuel rails to fuel lines since this intake has only the rails and no lines to go with it????

Why not just put the mustang upper on the truck lower? I thought they were pretty much the same piece.

the stock truck manifold flows better than the stock mustang manifold......the runners on the truck manifold has lrger runners.......if you were going to switch to a car manifold you should go with a gt40 intake.....as stated in a post above that the GT40 upper bolts on the truck stock lower....that should say something right there
