: New toy
Rockrat 09-04-2003, 09:12 PM Well I purchaced the new CNC KneeMill today its a Tree with 3 powered axis and a Dynapath controler. just have to pickup a rotophase and relearn some programming and then put this thing to work.. Oh ya and clean up the garage this thing takes up a 7'x7' foot print on the floor...soon as I get it setup Ill post a few pics
Mike@Accurate 09-04-2003, 11:27 PM You'll love it ! We bought a used Bridgeport Series II (big 5hp bastard or something)and actually figured out how to set it up and get it running. (Weighed tons) The code is a little goofy 'till you get used to it, but, it is worth it the first time you mill a circular pocket. So cool to walk away and do something, while it sits over there working too. And cool to watch. Look out, guys will be hangin' out, drinkin' beer watching it work:beer:. Probably used to that now, might miss the personal attention though. We even use it for paying jobs (can you imagine). Enjoy, MIKE
Rockrat 09-05-2003, 05:55 AM I started brushing up on the code last night it is semi conversational, alot different then the stuff we had back in school years ago. I should hopefully have it in the garage setup midle of next wk, to start playing. I also am picking up a engine lathe with a 2" spindle bore40" bed., got to make room for that too...:D
Tusker 09-05-2003, 07:17 AM Dude, let me know when the house next door is for sale. I'm movin' in :D That is awesome.

to much time involved doing those its cheaper to get used railroad spikes...
bluezuked 09-05-2003, 05:33 PM How much did that Tree set you back??
After checking out the Haas toolroom mill, we have opted to ad one of those in the future to our shop. For $20,000.00, it's a bargain.
If you want any tips on programming or if you get into trouble, I'd be glad to help. I've been programming and setting up CNC mills and lathes for over 15 years officially, but started when I was still a sophomore in highschool with my dad. You name it, i've ran it one time or another.
You should have lot's of fun with that machine.
When I get a shop built on my property for playing, I'm gonna have a CNC mill and lathe for some serious zukiwork.:D
Rockrat 09-05-2003, 06:06 PM I paid fair price for it.. My father was in tool and die so I got into it in High school. Just been along time since I did any programming, but I got all the books and Da is still around and I have bud that is a rep for the dynapath and knows the Tree line well..
Orionn 09-06-2003, 12:25 PM Thats too kool :grinpimp:
sounds like your getting serious with the fabrication then.
Excellent!:D
Rockrat 09-06-2003, 02:04 PM Ya it should solve alot of probleem that I have run into with machinests, I wont have to worry about labor quantitys anymore and I can fab up new stuff. I am just trying to get the garage rearanged and clean because once this thing gets set in place its not moving just over 4000# so i am graphing on paper all the foot prints of equipement so it is functional, 30x30 garage gets real small when you add a lathe mill benches toolboxes etc. Oh and 2 zuks
