I just started going through brake fluid *very* quickly. Fortunately there is a big puddle where I park on the passanger side right above this part:

I crawled under and took a picture rather than trying to discribe it :) It's near the back as you can tell by the drive shaft in the top of the picture.

I tried to lossen and retighten the brake lines hoping one was loose, but the fluid seems to be coming out of the part itself. What is the name of this part so I can ask a parts store for a new one?

Proportioning valve assy, but after pricing new you may want to look for used one.

Have any of you Sammy guys tried simply taking the prop. valve out of the brake circuit? Buddy of mine runs his toy that way and it actually seems to stop better. And he's not the first Toy owner to do that.

I almost did until I realized what it did. Figmo runs with out that thing with not much trouble. He also has front disks in the rear though. I think I will take it out when I do the Toy swap an my friends Samurai.

I have run without it with rear discs and rear drums. It will work fine without it. I also did away with one of my rear brake lines. Makes it simpler.

So in escense you have 3 wheel brakes, or did you split it front to rear, remember zuks are split left to right. so now you stop the left front, and both rears, and the other front by itself

No I changed it up front at the junction block, and that is where I did away with the second rear brakeline. So I stop with the fronts on one circuit and the rear on the other. I did it when I went to rear discs. It just seemed easier than making the two rear lines work and hasnt given me any problems since I did away with the Prop valve.

So with TOY axles I could basically scrap the p-valve, and run the lines straight to the axles??

I wouldnt do that, with the increase in brake shoe and pad size if the breaks are blead properly meaning you can bet all the air out. It should stop on a dime with it in the line. I would switch your lines like similiar above at the spliter, so you are front to rear instead of side to side stock formation

I love the seach function. Unfortunately it is useless if you don't know what you're supposed to search for :flipoff2:

i was haveing problems with my brakes last winter, and i just removed it and put some short steel lines in too replace it...

i dont think its a big deal if your running 31,s or bigger tyres...
the rear brakes are pretty weak with stock tyre size let alone going to larger tyres......

Pretty soon I need to look into how I go about going from the Sami 2 rear brakeline setup to the Toy 1 line......

Just put a splitter block at the frame next to where that Proportioning valve goes to get it to 1 line and then split off at the axle. I like this way better than two lines coming down, less crap to get hung up on the rocks.
