Hey Guys....I've got a 460 in my truck and it has a vibration....not bad, actually tolerable, but I've got the tranny out now and maybe I can fixit. The problem is that I don't remember what the motor came out of. Here's the q.....Can you tell if a 460 is internally or externally balanced without looking at the crank? I'm not talking about by checking the counterweight...which may be wrong. The block casting number is D1VE 6015 A2B. Also.....how can I tell if I have the right flexplate for this engine. Thanks in advance.

If the crank matchs the block (1971) then it will be internally balanced. No counterwieghts on the flexplate/flywheel. As for how to spot one...dunno, may need to drop the pan and get the number off of the crank to be 100% sure.

Read your reply.......Do you know if there are actual weigts on the externally balanced flexplate? I think I'm going to try a spacer instead of a weight on the crank pulley, but I'm still not sure of the flexplate.
