I recently refurbushed the 302efi in my 86 bronco. I honed the cylinders, put in a new stock cam, std pistons, rings, lifters, and pushrods. I put it in the truck, connected everything, and it won't start. It just cranks. Everything is connected as far as I can tell, it is getting spark, compression, and fuel. I've tested the coil and the tp sensor and they are fine. Anyone have any ideas for things to check. I'm completely out of ideas.

Thanks. Jon

Make sure your dizzy in in right. All it takes is a tooth off and it won't start for anything.

How would you go about checking that?? When I put it together the dots on the cam and crank timing chain gears were lined up when i put the dizzy in and i never turned the engine over until everything was put together. Once i couldn't get it started I brought the #1 cylinder to top dead center and rotated the engine twice. The rotor was pointing to the 1 that is indicated on the dizzy cap so I figured it was timed right. Am I way off?? If it is off, do i just loosen it and start moving it tooth by tooth or is that a certain procedure to follow. Thanks again for all the help.

did ya check the grounds for the engine if it gets a bad ground it will blow the ignition module .

also were did ya check for spark ? plug ? coil?

grounds are good, as far as I know, only like 2 or 3 actucal grounds that bolt to something that aren't a part of a plug or connector. I checked for spark at the plug, but did do a resistance test on the ign. coil and it was in the specified range. The only grounds that I disconnected and reconnected during the engine overhaul were the neg battery cable to the frame, the one for the injector harness, and the one for the wiper motor. Other than that there are no other grounds in my engine compartment. Thanks for all the ideas. I may check the module next, see if it is still good.
