I do not have a notcher but looking at the features the tn-100 looks better than the hsn-500. The hsn-500 is made from 5/16 steel has a sticker for the degree markings. The tn-100 is made from 1/2 6061-t6 Al and has the degree markings engraved into the plate. Both cost the same amount. A step up from the hsn-500 is the 501 but it is also about double the money with 1/2" steel and a better bearing block. Of course there's always the Harbor Freight notcher :D

I have one similiar to hiluxman. I bought it from Speedway Motors.
No complaints for the price. I've used the shit out of it so far with no problems.

I use the hsn 501i. Very nice, I use it a lot and have had no problems. I haven't tried it yet, but I just bought one of the williams low buck tool notchers. They are suppose to notch really quick for low angle notches.

I picked up the EL CHEAPO piece o sheeot from Harbor Freight just to get started. Two cages and a couple of links later it is still working just great. Of course it is not the best one out there, but for the price?

Low bucks has my vote. They are easy to operate, not quite as fancy as the better holesaw notchers. It just takes a few cuts to get used to.

I came accross this today, its out of most of our leagues but I thought it was a pretty cool idea. You have to watch the video to really see how it works.
