I just did the F150 4x4 box swap and cant get the thing to turn with power. I swapped the internals with a 89 2wd F250 box. Now it turns the right direction. At first i did the swap the box wouldnt turn at all, found out i had the adjuster nut down to far so the sector shaft gears were hitting something inside the box, took it apart again and fixed that and the box will turn freely by the steering wheel, or by turning the tires. The motor is a 351W with a serpentine conversion so the pumps that plastic ford pump with the huge resovoir filler. If i look inside the pump while the vehicles running theres fluid in there moving somewhere. If i have the motor off and look in the pump and turn the tires theres hardly any movement. I have the pump filled to the bottom of the Cold line, after having the motor running for about a minute the resevoir will overfill for some reason, could that be the sign of a bad pump? The high pressure line is going into the small fitting on the box, and the return line is coming out of the bigger fitting, then into a cooler, then to the pump return, is that the way its supposed to be? What should i trouble shoot? I was hoping to drive it around tonight but nothings ever simple :(
