I got my 8274 bolted to the winch-plate on my '78 Cherokee, and I'm mounting the solenoid-pack on the passenger-side fenderwell. It's going to be about a 52" run for each of the three cables running to the motor. Stock ones looked to be about 4-ga; I was thinking of running an O-ga cable from the battery to the solenoid pack, then 2-ga out to the winch-motor.
Will wires that size be sufficient for running the winch-motor at 52" away?

2ga would be the minimum size I would run. You have to remember that the way the control pack is designed, you are now making a 156" current path vs the 92in (appx with the old motor cables and the positive power lead) so your voltage drop will be higher. Amp draw at full pull with an 8274 can exceed 500 amps so make sure the solenoid pack is mounted where it has some ventilation or you could have a problem with solenoid failure from overheating.

Good point about the ventilation. I'm using the plastic cover to keep from accidentally touching the solenoids when I'm under the hood, so maybe I'll slot the sides of it to let some of the underhood airflow cool off the solenoids.
