Is it a trailer queen or do you have to drive it daily?

The 4.3 cheby is a sweet set up for you toy's and the auto is not great due to high gears but you have solved that with the atlasII.
Try and get the votrec 4.3 and run all smog crap with it and you will love it. You might want to think about the 700r4, it will hook up with the harness to the fuel injection and you get a 27% OD. and a 20% lower first and if a good shop builds it you should have no probs. This would let you go 27% lower on your ring gear and have the same RPM's as the th350. Just my $0.02

I say a 4.3 converted to propane, sm420, dual cases, and whatever ring gear you want and still run 38's or 39's. 4.10 or 4.56 if you wanna drive on the street or 5.29's if you want to crawl. :D

i'm not a GM fan so i say a 22re for simplicityand reliability. + autos i dont think have the reliabilty of a manual trans in day to day and trail use applications. you'll spend so much more money setting up an auto than just staying a stick. keep it simple.
id go with the 4.3 i am always amazed by the power it puts out. are we talking tbi tpi vortech what 4.3?
