I'm almost done swapping in a 16v out of a 96 Tracker. I'm worried about damaging the computer way out in the woods & not having a pare. I found a spare that is out of a 95 Suzuki Esteem 16 valve MPFI. Will this computer work in place of mine if I need it to get home?

Couldn't say for sure, but some '95's had the OBD2 connector and the OBD1 software. They didn't enforce the OBD2 software untill '96 making everything compliant. My .02

So....would that mean that it would run with that computer either way???? That's all I need to know is if it's plug & play so to speak if my ECM craps out. I don't care if it sends out error codes just as long as it make the motor run fine.;)

Well, IMHO I don't think that it would work. Why don't you try it in another running rig to see.

With an OBDII engine you would need to use a 1996 OBDII ECM and NO the Esteem ECM will not work or at least the ones I have tried definately did not work with the same year Sidekick motor & harness. Either way the 1995 won't work with the 1996. If you want to waste some money "TIPPYZUK" has an Esteem OBDII computer for cheap.
Good Luck:p
