I'm cutting down a heavy duty 9 to bronco width. I want to put disk brakes on it with the cadillac calipers. I'm going to use wild horses shafts, and they will machine them for disks. Anybody know what disks I should use?

You don't need to machine anything for disc's with that setup.
Get CJ7 rotors, they fit right on the axle. Then fab up a bracket for your caliper and weld it on. You got disc brakes.

Front disc brake rotor's from a CJ7. What ever year they had 5X5.5 lug spacing (It's a jeep thing, how the hell should I know? :flipoff2:). They will slide right on the Bronco axle.

Okay, okay. I'll pull my head out and get the same ones as on the front then.:cow:
Thanks

I believe 81 and 82 had the thicker rotors on the CJ. 83 on are the thinner ones. I believe people use the thicker rotors when doing the disc conversions.

Are you putting the rotor in front or behind the axle?
Where are you getting the longer studs if your putting it in front

Pre '79 should be the thicker (1 1/8") ones. The thinner (7/8") ones should be from '79 on.
I thought most people use the thinner ones with caddy calipers, but I may be wrong.

You want the thinner ones because the thicker ones won't fit the caliper with brand new pads. You'd have to shave the pads a bit. I just bought some for $22 ea from Napa.
