i'm thinkin about trading my semi built 4runner to this guy in my club who has a samurai that's getting out of the hardcore offroading thing, i have a 88 4runner on 35s (4 inch ifs lift) lokrite front spool rear 5.29 gears, freshly rebuilt motor 100k miles, its a really good looking truck and he has a Samurai (86 model (what is left of it)Frame stretched 12 inches, wheel base increased 7 inches. 52" leaf springs in rear, custom pack in front made of a few different sets of stock springs. SPOA, drop drag link, 5.13 gears, lockrights both ends. 4.16 t-case gears Rancho 9000 series shocks all around (rears need to be mounted) Aftermarket rear driveshaft from Arizona driveline (uses 1310 u-joints)
Engine is practically new, has few road miles and a bout a year or so of offroad use on it. 15x8 Black Williamette Wheels with 2" offset (5) 35x12.5x15 Pro-Comp Xterrians (5, one brand new never on the ground, other four like new) Warn XD9000i winch, cable has one trip on it and new oversized winch hok on
it with a sleeved eye. Body has been cutoff behind front seats, rear wall welded in place. Front clip removed. External cage 90% complete.

Do you think that would be a pretty fair trade, or should i ask him for some cash also?? i'm not really sure what samurai's are worth, so that's why i'm asking yall's opinion. Also, is that a good setup for offroading? This would be used ONLY for offroading, little to no onroad use. thanks!!

Runnas are really hard to get where I live, ZUks are a dime a dozen and cheap to build. I think your Toy is worth more anyhow.

Sounds like the guy has too much money into stock axles to build new ones, I would rather start over too in that position.

The axles have some real limitations, more than likely you'll want to run a tire larger than a 33".

so.. could i get any money for the sammy axles? or are they pretty much worthless?

I think they might be worth somthing to the right buyer, I think they could be worth around $500-$800 with the wheel and tires.

haha 800 with the wheels and tires. that bad, huh. jeesh. so what could i say would be a fair trade?? The good thing is that in october i'll have a front yota axle (that i was gonna put under the 4runner) so i can just keep that and stick it under the sammy. Hmm. So the axles are pretty much the only sore point on the samurai??? I think what i'll do is tell him that i'll give him the 4runner on the bald set of 31s i have, i'll keep my 35s along with his tires, and i'll keep my front solid toyota axle... i think that would make it a pretty fair trade. What kinda rear axle should i run in the zuki?? i plan on running at the largest, 37-38s.

i'm lookin to get about 3,500 to 4 thousand.. but i'd still REALLY rather just trade for another rig. it'd just be easier for me, and i wouldnt have to go around after i sold my rig looking for another rig to buy, you know. My rig would be more of a daily driver/weekend warrior rig, but thats not what i need. i have a ricer for a daily driver so i'd rather have something that's hardcore but still pretty cheap and simple to fix when it breaks. :D
