After getting the Lock Right installed in my Zuki, i can turn the yoke one way, then yank it back the other. when i do this, the locker disengages and won't lock again until i stop turning the pinion, or slow it down.

is this about the norm for you guys? i have never owned a locker before and i got this one used and i just want to make sure it's working correctly.

a an ez locker(same as lockright)a 2 diffeernt lockrights in 3 different axles and NONE of them do this...sounds like you might have a sidegear or thrust washer/shim issue.

well, i didn't get any instructions with this locker, and by reading a tech article on iZook, i found out that i left the square spider gear pin piece out. i know that is a problem, but would it have any effect on the locker disengaging?

yes, because of the way the locker engages and disengages when torque is applied. you need to get everythign installed EXACTLY as in teh instructions...I had mine instaled 3x because it was fawked up each time...finally I sent it up to brent at trail tough and he did it for me for $25.

No, the Lockright came with extra parts just cuz PowerTrax found that they were making way too much money. So they decided to throw some unecessary stuff in the box, just to cut down on their profit..........

Now take it apart and put it together RIGHT, dumass..........:shaking:

Lock Rights dont include the square hinkey. You re-use your old one. The Lock Right does include 4 new pins though. The pins spread the halves to engage, if they are all cattywampus, it wont Work Right. MIKE

i installed a lockright powertrax locker in the front of my nearly stock sammy....i hated it. It wa an easy install but it was a pain to get to engage and disengage....like when i was wheelin on some dirt piles the thing wanted to make a bunch of noise and unlock....and then when going straight it would work but it would take time to engage. Shortly thereafter i drove in a cirlce on the street to see if it would actually work and it did....but then it broke all my stuff in my axle....I know i am a dumbass...but it is a peice of shit. Well anyways...i had to replace everything in my front axle except the housing....more work than it was worth. But i sent it back to richmond gear and they sent me a brand new one...which i sold to my friend and we installed in his rear. He likes it but he hates the noise and the effect going around corners. I welded my front and i love it.......wouldnt trade it for a locker unless of course it was a air locker or electrac,. A guy i knew put lead in his rear carrier....as a locker and it worked remarkably great... he had the usual tire scuff but that thing worked great on the trails and it didnt break anything on the street. Maybe consider a spool for the front or maybe a different locker for the rear.

Just another note, when there is no load on the axles or on the yoke, a locker will act funny. I would recommend you call someplace that does the installs, and see if they have any instructions that tell you how they actually do their tests. Had to tear apart a 9 inch because I did the test wrong, and my boss came over, re-did the test correctly, and laughed at me as I put it back together. (uneven tire pressure caused the complaint)
I have an EZ locker waiting to go in front, and am already welded in the rear. :D

Weld that little bitch together. I think it will work better than shear pins. Little lockers = little strength.

I was talking about the spider gear pins (3 really), but there are also 4 dowels and 8 springs that go in there too. MIKE
