Can I use a 38x14.5 tire on a beadlock wheel with a back space of 3.5" or will they rub?I have a S/O with alot of body trim but I was thinking more of the back side. One more question does any one have the greasable shackle pins and are they worth it?Thanks

Jeff,

I have the greaseable spring pins and shackles and although I have not had them long enough to tell if they reduce wear any, they are quieter. The quality is not nearly as good as OEM(surprise...) but with a tad of hole filing they fit. The shackles seem too short for even mild flex springs, but they are cheap...

I had 35x12.50 SSR's and they rubbed the springs pretty bad. I am not running a stock front end however, but it is pretty close. I would think with that backspacing you would rub pretty bad.

Most anything over a 35" tire will rub your front springs just due to sheet diameter....adjust your stops and you can correct that....obviously, the wider and taller the tire, the more limited your steering becomes.

My 38.5x14.5 SX's on ~3.5" backspaced 10" rims do rub in the rear when twisted up....both the horizontal and vertical portions of the fenderwell.

I've got home-made greasable shackles on mine....I don't dislike them, but I don't think I would encourage anyone to purchase them. They are not tough to make at home.

i don't know about the tires but i like the greasable pins alot. they are WAY quieter and when i took the springs down again they came right apart and i didn't have bushing wear or trouble with rust inside between the bolt and bushing. more lube...easier to flex/drop in my opinion.

My 38.5x14.50sx's do not rub my front springs and I have not made them rub in the rear. Although I think they will rub in the rear. Of course I am running 15x10" rims with 2" backspacing....

I HAVE THE SAME RIM TIRE SETUP THAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT .....MY FRONT TIRES DO NOT RUB ON THE SPRING ......

THEY DO RUB ON THE INSIDE FENDERWELL.....NOT THE TOP, BUT THAT MOLDED PIECE THAT BOLTS TO THE FRAME...RIGHT WHERE IN HAS THE BEND TOWARD THE TIRE.....ONLY WHEN ITS FLEXING PRETTY GOOD.........

WITH 35X12.50 THE REAR TIRES RUBBED ON THE INSIDE OF THE REAR FENDERWELL... IT MAJORLY LIMITED MY REAR TRAVLE.......I COULDNT IMAGINE IT WITH 38S WITH THE STOCK WIDTH REAR......THERE WILL BE MAJOR RUBBING WHEN FLEXED.......THE TOP YOU CAN LIMIT WITH BUMPSTOPS.......
