I have a Miller, but I forgot the model. Its killer, it is about the size of a small boom box. It will cut 1/4 no problem. I think that it was about $1200.00. Miller is the best.:D

Out of the ones I have used I like the Miller.

I love my buddies hypertherm. It cuts 5/8 plate clean, and will sever 1" if you cut slow. I believe hypotherm is supposed to be one of the best.
edited for spelling, I believe it is hypertherm, not hypotherm

I would like one to be able to cut through 1" steel but don't want to spend over $2000.

I have nothing bad to say about my Miller Cutmate.

Sever 5/8's cut 3/8's fast and clean. I paid $1100 about 2 years ago.

I'd go with a hypertherm 600. Hands down. For the price I do not think it can be beat.

Miller 2050 baby! Cuts 7/8 and severs up to 1.125. The hypertherm is supposed to be a good product unless you are talking to someone who sells something else.:D Don't buy some save a little $$$ off brand because plasma's need tips replaced and finding off brand parts is a bitch so go with miller or hypertherm.

I got the hypertherm about 5months ago and love it it is the 380 and they say it is max at 1/2", I wanted 1/4" cutting so I went double and it cuts like butter. The welder above is a lincoln sp170 and as you can see they are the same size. Cost was about $1300 as I remember.

I bought a ThermalDynamics 3/8 machine 4 years ago.I sold it to a friend the 4th time it came back from warranty repair (they had replaced the whole thing the third time) I can not bitch they stood be hind the product. The welding shop I deal with cut me a deal on a new ESAB 7/8 plasma when I bought the 250x Miller. The ESAB kicks ass,the consumables are have the price of the thermaldynamics stuff and they last 2x longer. The ESAB was $1325 green money

I'm thinking about the Hypertherm Powermax 900, I was told it was the best out there. I was also told to stay away from the Lincoln's. At the moment we have a Thermal Dynamics Econo pak 50, wasn't very Econo like though paid $1700 for it! It works well, no problems yet.:)
