Right on. But then, maybe it's your blood. Belgium is the country that decided to fight all of WWI with 4 divisions, conducted themselves with heroism at every turn, and lived up to the regal standards of their King, who was a prince in both name and conduct.

Not sure if you are aware of this, but there are a few Frenchmen, Afghanis, etc on this board who's opinions and thoughts are held in rather high regard.

Keyboard warriors??? Don't battle one generalization with another. There are idiots worldwide...there is absolutely no doubt in that. I just think there are a higher percentage of them in Europe. :flipoff2:

OH sh*t! I am completely mortified that i did that! I apologise right and right now for that insult to you, and your Country. :(

When i was dismissing the Europeans as "pussys" i was, of course referring to certain other countries in the union, the only thing you have in common with one of them is that you speak french.

I acted in complete ignorance, and disrespect to you, and your country, for which i feel like a complete ass.

I have every respect for you and your country, Hell, my Aunt has chosen Bruges as her home for the last 30 years!

Again, i made myself look like a complete bigoted moron. I only hope that you can forgive me and understand that i was referring to the other countries that DO make a habit of whining and moaning about anything that anyone who is not part of their "club", does. As well as PMing this to you, i will post it in the thread, and let everyone know i f**ked up :( . I think most people on PBB will let you know i am not usually this stupid. It was an abberation. You seemed to have calmed down a bit now so....

Tim's just expressing an opinion, just like you are in responding. Don't take it personally, can't remember Belgium ever getting a bad rep around here.

The whole European union issue is what most people in the UK are pissed off about, we seem to getting very little out of it, just getting slagged off and bitched at, while being one of the major contributors money wise.

Empires/unions between different countrys never work through out history, everyone wants there own identity. Especially in a place with the history of Europe. It'll all end in tears.

With my very limited knowledge of the US history this may be a long shot but it seems to me that the US is an example of when this did work.
Problem was it needed a civil war to make it work. :flipoff2:
I am sure that someone will correct my simple view.

Problem with the EU and the UN is the veto right, it should be a democratic vote if more than half the members say yes, the law, rule or whatever passes.

I'm with Tony. Most of the countries in the union that do most of the bitching, are the ones that no other country really even likes. I figure germany is in the union as they f*cked trying to take over Europe by themselves (TWICE!!), so maybe they can find some backup this way. france? well hell, they have a recent history of rolling over to anyone who is bigger than they are. I must admit, that i don't know exactly where Spain, Italy, Norway etc, stand on recent developments, but maybe i must have missed any statements they made, one way or the other. And the Swiss are generally regarded as the biggest fence sitters in the world. They'll bank ANYONES money, just don't ask them to pick a side....

I think the problem to a lot of the US people, was that it was ok to jump in and save Europe (not just you) from an evil, genocidal dictator 60 years ago, but when the US (and its allies) jumped in to save Iraq from an evil, genocidal dictator, they were villified for it!

Also, Americans take an inordinant amount of pride in acknowledging the sacrifices made in the quest for liberty, democracy, freedom of speech and "whatever". So to be attacked the way they were (and like it or not, france was one of the loudest voices out there), and have the symbols of their previous losses (the gravesites in france) defaced, pretty much guaranteed that france would be seen as an "enemy" of what the Allies were trying to accomplish. THATS why france gets pounded on US BB's.

Now I get it, I was under the assumption that when the US, UK, Canadians,... came to liberate us 60 years ago, they actually wanted to free us as in Freedom of speach, democracy, ... But in fact they wanted to make us their colonies who will do whatever they want us too!

Its seems (and i'm no scholar) that we've always either been fighting each other (http://www.britishbattles.homestead.com/files/europe/anglofrenchwars.htm), or allying up to defeat a common enemy EG: WWI, WWII, War of Independance(....oops, shouldn't have brought that one up! ;) )

fair enough. France is obvioulsy thankful for what the US did in WWII, and France is obviouly happy for the hope that Iraq will be a better place to live in. But nonetheless, the way Bushs administration handled the decision and possible UN involvement in a war was not the best, diplomatically speaking. Now, the fact that Saddam Husseing got his ass kicked is definately a good thing...

They were villified for it because the reasons why, weren't clear.
Do you truely believe that getting rid off Saddam was the reason for US/UK to attack? I find that very hard to believe, why not get rid off all the other dictators and scumbags??
Don't get me wrong I am 100% pro of the attack on Iraq but simply for the fact that Saddam is history now. But you cannot sell to me that the US/UK attacked Iraq solely for that reason.

No, i think they DID go in to push Saddam out. It was getting sick of terrorists doing whatever they wanted, and treat their own countrymen like s**t, while other countries in the UN stood around wringing their hands, and NOT acting that pushed the allies to finally do something about it.

HOWEVER i think that the descision to go in was handled VERY badly. It came across as a very heavy handed "invasion" to a lot of people, and Bush as a figurehead for it is a bad idea. He comes across as too "damn the torpedoes", which DOES make some people wonder what the real reasons are. Even if they are the right ones.

As far as going after "all the other dictators and scumbags??", Remember a little a$$hole by the name of Noriega?? And wasn't there some Yugoslavian/Croatian dictator that was kicked out of office (and killed by his countrymen). I think several other "dictators and scumbags" should start watching their backs.... And wasn't there some Yugoslavian/Croatian dictator that was kicked out of office (and killed by his countrymen). I think several other "dictators and scumbags" should start watching their backs.... I know Idi Amin, etc are scared s**tless in case they are next!

Bob Mugabe is quaking in his boots!

There is a list of about 30 African dictators who need to be taken out of power like yesterday, but I don't see the Western nations invading/liberating anytime soon.

God save Africa, cause nobody else is going to.

BTW, Idi Amin hasn't been in power since 1979, and is currently very dead!! :flipoff2:

True, our underequiped small army was against there will surrendered by our King to the Germans after 18 days of "battle", there was a big political mess after the war wich lead to the fact that our King had to pack up his stuff and leave the palace!!

Wow...very well put....
