I am trying to find out what the adapter for a Dodge NP203 looks like. I know what the Chevy Turbo 350 and SM465 version look like but for an upcoming application, I'd like to find out about the Dodge Np203.

For that matter, what Dodge vehicles did the NP203 show up in(year, model, and tranny please)?

Thanks in advance,
John

he NP203 came in all 75 to 79 Dodge trucks. It was the only T-case available those years and camebehind all transmissions(A727--NP A390--NP 435--NP A230)each transmission used a different adapter.

Cool. That is what I was "afraid" of :(

BTW, do you know if the input gear used for the various trannies were the "short" 23 spline in all cases? Or did they use different protrusions?

I got a $20 input gear that was from a Dodge... or so I was told. It stuck out from the bearing retainer by about 1/2" and was 23 spline.

The half inch was in relation to the end of the bearing retainer. Total stickout was about 1.25 inches. See picture:

BTW, no need for the NP203, got one myself. I was just trying to find out if Dodge used a "standard" NP203 with the same adapter. Or if they pulled a Chevy and had 3 different versions:(

Throw away the chain case and iff, use an Offroad Designs adapter and bolt on a 205, the result is the same length as a 203, no chain, 3.94 low-low, part time (2.01 low 2WD).

My 203/727 adapter looks like \_/ with a round top, seven bolts - this is where the front of the range box bolts to the "adapter." Actually this part is very long, has the crossmember mounting foot integrated into it, and serves as the transmission tailshaft housing as well. Hope that this helps.

Fortunately, my driving style doesn't warrent an NP205. Plus, in an FJ40, that combo won't fit even with as far forward as my engine is:(

But, my basic intention is to use the NP203 as a gear reduction box for some "short" transfer case.... though I might use something else... I'm still in the air and got plenty of time to fawk around with something. Currently I've got a Lc 3 speed tcase that I could use behind it. But, I am leaning toward a Dana 18.

OK, the adapters were different, but were the T-cases the same, regardless of which trans was used?
