As far as I know the shafts are the same size but is there any other significant diffrence between the two???:D

Axle shafts are the same. Some of the ealier D44's used smaller axle u-joints and smaller, necked down axle shafts. Knuckles out is the difference. There was a thread a bit ago that said the 8lug calipers had a bigger piston from the factory than the 1/2tons. They also said if you buy a replacement caliper for the 3/4ton you will be given the smaller piston 1/2ton caliper.
