So, with my imaginary money, over the winter I plan on building an engine, My idea is a supercharged big block running dual gas....LPG or GAS.
Does this work in theory?

I currently own a 1991 suburban with a TBI 350 in it, and I'm on a quest for ludacris horsepower. Is there a better GM idea than my crazy ass contraption.

Also, LPG will give me better emisions, right? Better Milage or something from what I've heard, or am I halucinating?

A buddy is making around 1100 horsepower, With a small block on pump gas(91)....
377ci, 2) pte sc51 turbo's, FAST engine managment, etc....

How about a crazy ass 383 SBC from that 350 you have? Or, a huge BBC? Or, a nicely built Cummins TD? Are you looking at staying within a certain budget? That is one heavy rig to be moving around, you may want to make torque your primary goal and with that will be power. And, I believe with LPG you can run higher dynamic compression ratios and still be detno free! It has a higher "octane" but I think you may use more of it vs. gasoline as i don't think it has the BTU's equal to gas..? John

Also, read this..... http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/propane/index.html I am going to re-read that as well. John

the propane idea doesn't sound too bad, but i'd go with a charged 383 or somethin and just run on pump gas... lot less to worry about IMO.

I want to see the slip on that one! I call BS, not on pump gas.

I have been building my bigblock with a semi imaginary budget also. So far I have been looking at a 4.5 bore x 4.25 stroke(540) on a tall deck gen 6 block. I am still trying to figure out if i can run stroker dished pistons on the tall deck to achieve around 6-7 to 1 CR. That way I can run 10-12lbps of boost from the twin screw and still squeeze by on the 91octane. :D

an 8-71 on a BB is crazy hp.

i rode in one once in a chevelle. scary.

i've been told if you reverse the water flow in the block and cool the heads first, then the block you can get away with running more comp or more advanced timeing and run pump.

i know for a fact that aluminum heads help with the detonation. i have a bud running 11:1 on a 350 runnning pump gas.

The motor is in a 92' 300zx, It runs 10.20@139mph, It has a really bad traction/spool-up issue:D

I am not full of shit , I will probley see him this weekend, I'll get him to e-mail me the dyno numbers....

Also, Don't get me started on the pump gas thing....
If you can tune it we'll, you can make it work..(standalone,J&S knock control, huge injectors,tolulene:flipoff2: ,etc...)

so tolulene is now pump gas?
BS called and confirmed
10.20s @ 139 is sooo far from 1100hp
the mph would be huge with 1100hp

I would love to see links of the motor/car buildup regardless of your boasting

A lot of it has to do with your cam and your effective CR. Lotsa overlap can allow higher CR without detonation. At least i think thats how it works. Is your friends motor high reving at all?

yeah it's high reving about 6,500 i think. not too crazy. i think he runs a 290 cam in it. i'll pm him to read this thread and pipe in on his motor if he wants to.

If your runnig a heavy rig ...........

Torque is what you look for

I had a 383 before now i installed a 94 TBI 454, and 39.5 boggers spin ..........
