ok the tub of my flatty is rusted to snot. not the sides, just the bottom. it rusted right up to the walls of the tub, which to my knowledge are fiberglass cuz the metal is rusted away all the way to the wall and the wall is perfectly clean. the metal that isn't rusty(only a few small areas) is old and nowhere near straight. the firewall has a bunch of holes in it. i would go buy a new tub but the walls of the tub are perfect and have a real nice coat of paint on em. does anyone know anybody that could be able to weld in a new floor? im not at all skilled with a welder and would like someone who knows what they are doing to put in some new metal. itd have to be in the sacramento area. id appreciate any info anyone can give. thanks

I think the best advice I can give is to get a new tub. The floor structure contains many details that provide stiffness, clearance, body mounts, etc. Lots of things that would be hard to duplicate starting out with a flat sheet of steel. My $.02.
Theres a place in WI that makes replacement body parts, all the parts.. individually. I think it's Classic Enterprises.

Don't be afraid. My tub was the same way. I cut the whole floor and structure out and replaced with 1.5" square tubing. At that point you can weld in some steel or do like I did and bolt in some aluminum treadplate (MN winters are hell on steel) here's some pics.

sweet idea. yeah i would like to see rust gone from this tub forever, so aluminum would be a good way to go. did the steel affect where the body mounts to the frame? or will it still line up alright. thanks for all the info everybody!

Those pictures look like my jeep did before I replaced the floor boards in it. However I welded in new steel and made new supports when i finished i used a brush in bed liner both on top of the floor and under the floor and fenders. should reduce road noise as well as prevent future rust.

I made sure the steel was in the right place for the body mounts ;)
