Jtisdale 09-16-2003, 02:32 PM Short recap...and these are the only pics I took the whole week!
Most of us did LH Wed nite, fun and wetter than usual.
Thursday- Golden Spike, Yousef broke a rear ring and pinion on Double Whammy. We heard that Slade and a toy 'rolled' on Rocker Knocker but didn't actually see it.;)
Friday- Pritchett Canyon- KC entertained us with mog lines and laid it over twice...redeaming himself by climbing Rockpile. Bill walked Rockpile on the first try. Pendy defied the laws of gravity in his short weelbase all week long but kept the rubber side down.
Saturday-Lower Helldorado, Bill found the only weak point left in his rear axle and sheared the driveflange bolts off completely. Slade tacoed the draglink on SeriousOne.
Pendy and I ran Upper Helldorado, that trail is friggin' tough. I sheared the splines off of a 110 CV on the last climb.
Thanks to Kyle, Keith, Joe, Geoff, and everyone else who helped get me on the road quickly after the trail!

JSBriggs 09-16-2003, 08:27 PM Between the hubcaps, and the rollcage, well....It reminds me of a kid I went to school with in the 7th grade (grade 7 for you guys up north). He had the double curse of braces AND headgear.

Tis
No problem Tis, glad I could help. I was by Troy's last night and noticed your rig sitting out there covered with mud and sporting a large dent on the driver's door, when did that happen?
:flipoff2:
pendy 09-19-2003, 09:26 AM I resemble that headgear and braces remark mr. jsbriggs. But then you never have anything nice to say when you are not part of the playgoup do you?
I guess Tis and I won the LH/UH race by default. Now all of you bow to us and sing our praises.
Actually I had a blast and being the poster child of bling with hubcaps, fuzzy dice, curb feelers and etc.. only increased my overdeveloped ego. So look for more incredulous tales of our exciting outing to come.

Buckon37s 09-19-2003, 09:29 AM Pendy,

I did make the rock slab last year, I did.
Just ask Carl with the white stationwagon D-90. He was our trail leader from Solihull. In fact, he broke every drivetrain part on his vehicle the day after trying to keep up with me. Axle shafts all around. CV joints and rubber bands etc..

Pendy,
Just one thing I need to know, Curb Feelers??? WTF.
Ask Frankenrover, he and his misses are the ones that decorated my parade wagon. All that shiat did for me on the trail was make me stop all the time thinking I was rubbing body parts on rocks. Then when I got used to the noise it created, I went ahead and whacked my front right outer fender on some silly avoidable rock face. Maybe the curb feelers should stick out sideways from the front bullbar.
I talked to KC and Bill about turning your smoke up on the diesel. Fear Factory and I made sure they are going to make a stoplight racer out of your 300 tdi. So start shopping for tires again, the burnouts are tough on mud tires. Just ask Timm Cooper he enjoyed showing us some rock burnouts while cresting LH. In fact, he claims to go through a set and a half of tires a year with his agressive driving technique.
Buckon37s 09-19-2003, 10:08 AM Thats real funny, sounds like billster. I knew it was a mistake to drop my truck off with Puffdragon and say "heres some cash, have fun". I am fully expecting to go pick my truck and have it look like a unimog tank with propane. Of course, I wouldn't mind one bit! Good to hear you are not resposible for the curb feelers :D
pendy 09-21-2003, 02:22 PM Wish I could share some of the pictures Don Piburn took in Moab. My better half is threatening to ground me after seeing all the gravity defying action.
Tis, my finger nail fell off. You know the one you patched for me at Rocker Knocker after I bashed it stacking rocks for the Unimog on KC's new line up. Sorry I bailed on the CV repair after the trail but I can not seem to miss the raffle they have during the dinner. Good thing I do not live in Vegas with my gambling urge.
What will we conquer next time? I just watched Rick Russels 'Extreme Moab' and like the Rusty Nail entrance at the end of Gold Bar. Go up to Double whammy and turn back down. Those deep hot tubs and Pickle look inviting as well.
The Rck Rsl video does not do UH justice. The boulder obstacle is a lot deeper on the far side now. As I remember your vehicle pretty much standing on its nose coming down from it. Did we convert you to the famous Warn 8274 winch after watching the workout my old one got between rescuing Unimogs and stringing my way though UH?
Next time I hope to have a bit more headgear on my cage and 36" Extreme Trekker II tires form Norm (Pat). I may even try to drive more of UH and give the 8274 a rest. A few less spectators might help the effort as well. It seemed the whole canyon was packed with people looking over our efforts. I had to drive out of the area to empty my holding tanks before Tis and I could get started. That wind from uphill did not help either.
How do we get a hold of Terry Mitchell and try to get a copy of his uncut video of the action? Any of you Solihull boys know his phone #? Thanks to everyone who stuck around to help us "make it" through this gnarly obstacle fest. I sure had fun.

Not sure, but it waxed out when I got her back!
Pendy- sorry bout the fingernail. What do you think about a trip to the Hammers?
Tis
pendy 09-24-2003, 09:46 AM The Hammers is in Cally as far as I know. Not sure they want me in that state of confusion any time in my life. Of course my good friend Arny is trying to get elected out there so he can make a difference. Maybe the Terminator can do them some good.
I might consider it. Probably a lot of drive time to get there. One of these years I need to go to the MAR on the other coast. But you guys here report it to be a mud fest social hour. Hell I got enough of that in high school at Keg parties. Back when adults laughed about teens and alcohol. Its not funny anymore with the crackdown and no tolerance.
I could have fun with all the rock gods here and call the Hammers a training ground for wushes. Might even get OS and Lance on my back for that infraction. Wonder if I could load my shiat on a train and ride out there tow rig, trailer and LR. With me in the caboose bringing up the rear.

Tis
pendy 10-22-2003, 09:59 AM Tis,
You are killing me. I wish I could share my cazy pics here. But I am unable. I got some standing on end shots. Action facial expression stills and akward suspension poses captured.
I am looking at an HP 7001 17" laptop to fall into the digital age with. When its happens I will stir some pixels up here.
Spicoli out
I love it! Got Bling!! :flipoff2:

Fear Factory 10-22-2003, 08:19 PM Tis looks like he about to puke from the sight of that thing. Either that or he knows he has to drag his rig over the gravel next.
pendy 10-22-2003, 11:01 PM Tis really should not bend over in front of my truck like that. What did he do drop the soap? Ramming speed.
I just got the Helldorado video from Crossroads today. It rules. I may narrate a version for them. I think a little Van Halen background music is in order for this Rover porno. Maybe even some "nine" inch nails for my trail partner.
Spicoli out
Does SG have wheel covers like mine for sale yet?
Jtisdale 10-23-2003, 06:03 AM Actually just doing my Sherpa duty and short roping him over that obstacle. Show us some video clips Mr Bling Bling.
CruiserWench 10-23-2003, 06:34 AM How 'bout this one of Pendy - ie. King of Wheelstands...
CruiserWench 10-23-2003, 06:47 AM And here's one of the bling boy himself lookin' kinda sexy...
Serious One 10-23-2003, 07:24 AM Makes you wonder what it would look like if Bono and Dennis Rodman were to have a child together.
Kind of like Pendy methinks.
:flipoff2:
Jtisdale 10-23-2003, 07:30 AM I think it has already been determined that he is a product of Bono and Jeff Spicoli...at least that we know of.
aloharover 10-23-2003, 11:08 AM Since first seeing some of these photos I have been wondering:
With out an A-hoop wont the cage flatten out if it does a hard roll onto the roof? Or is it all just part of the bling?

pendy 10-23-2003, 11:23 AM Wow Sandi,
Better send that picture to GQ. And the one of me also.
Srs 1, stick to the Wst Wng comments.
Aloha its solid tubing. Titanium. But its really just to bounce off rocks with negotiating. But thanks for your concern for my safety.
video clips. We'll see.
I will take Spicoli over Rodman. No hoop skills here.
Thick skin wins

Ha, don't give a damn about your safety.
Was just wondering if it worked is all. See so many rigs that have so many tubes you have to be a contortionist to just get into the rig.
pendy 10-24-2003, 12:05 AM So glad you do not care.
Actually that cage got put on the two days preceding traveling to Utah. The paint dried in route, as usual. I had a mental picture of it and that is how far I got with it. Ultimately I want to come forward off the B bar right above the door and loop down to the supported slider in front of the door. An A bar. With a stub at its forward end to the limb riser bars.
The best part about this A bar to me is it will give me something to grab. So I can haul my sezy zelf on up in it. I plan to jump a couple inches in tire size soon. After I tear a few more nubbins off the Q78's.
I want another bar joining the B bar across the back of the cab, below the window also.
The cage unbolts from the vehicle. So I can dress down for parades and such.
Totally Awesome
C'mon let me drive your brothers Camaro.

Now come on. What type of parade requires you to 'dress down'??
I didn't think they had those kinds of parades out in the sticks.

That's not the only thing that will be jumping! It'll be like going to a circus act watching you trying to jump up in that truck then. Maybe you need to build yourself a step ladder for that thing! :flipoff2:

Do you have the NAS tub, or Euro? Cant tell if there is a bulkhead below the truck cab.

Cool. On the ends of the limb riser tube, how did you do the female threads? Weld in a piece of solid round stock that had been drilled and tapped or...?

Actually I could dress down for any big city parade. Not worried about my locals. In the big cities someone might walk/drive into the side of my exo protection. Then try to sue me for being sturdier then stock. Like all this nonsense with padded bull bars on Range Rovers and such.
Plus if I ever get it inspected for a tag and title it needs to look less like a dune buggy. Mike your sust trying to get me worked up aren't you?
I like it.
tasty wave

Euro tub with bulkhead. Yes solid in the end, then drilled and tapped.
Larry,
Maybe I will just step on your big ass circus foot to get on up in it. That was not very nice, was it?
cool buzz

Sure Dude.
I want to get the headgear finished before us midwest dudes go down to Hot springs. For some talent bar action and a little wheeling to. Superlift park. 11-19-03 through Sunday. Consider this an invitation to all PBB members.
Also need a panard rod replacement. I want to cut the lower tabs an protruding frame mounts for the three link crossmember also. Then I need to extend the frame sliders. And I might as well make the underbody skidplate. Blah, Blah Blah.....
Its shipfitters desease as always. You start painting your boats deck and end up rebuilding the hull.
Mr. Hand, he's my history teacher.
rrrrright.
