: Good news, more time to work on my40.....
MD11Fr8Dog 09-16-2003, 11:29 PM ...the bad news is my left skate got stuck on the puck and the boards while battling for a lose puke during my game tonight. The snap was loud, the nausea was instaneous (held it back) and the pain searingly intense, worst I've ever felt!! Surgery scheduled for Thursday :( At least 8 weeks off with a broken fibula, slightly dislocated ankle and torn ligaments! Hard to fly with a cast on!! :( But easy to work in the garage!! :D
In other bad news, I will now have to miss lunch with Nolen and some of the Lone Star LC crowd and a ride in Kate this Friday!!:(
Nolen, I want a raincheck!!
wngrog 09-17-2003, 05:12 AM Damn.
That really sucks.
You need to stop doing that.
cruzila 09-17-2003, 06:58 AM Wow, get well soon dude. You deserve to spend some time in that garage.
rustycruiser 09-17-2003, 09:15 AM Sean,
Weren't you out with a buggered up leg last year? Same one?
Oh yeah..........Ouch!
:(
dieselcruiserhead 09-17-2003, 10:13 AM Sorry dude! In the years I played hockey luckily I never broke anything. Sounds like it hurts!

Dude with the size you are I don’t doubt you did not get hurt much. So how many guys got carried off the ice post your hit!
Sean as I posted on the list, get better and get your rig finished!

woody 09-17-2003, 10:58 AM Major bummer Sean...I know how those injuries can drive ya nuts!!
Just think tho...you'll have lots of "compose" time for tech articles tho! ;)
Myanarchy 09-17-2003, 11:28 AM damn... me and some of the Memphis crew were looking forward to having a beer with you man. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.:(

They had a guy break a leg in the game prior to mine as well. Bizarre. They've had a pretty injury free operation with the hockey league here. Nothing really major. The good news is, I had a call from the rink and the player insurance through the league covers me except for a deductible!!:D

NONE!! My skate got stuck on the puck and the boards (right in front of our bench) as I turn to my left. Everything turned with me but by foot - SNAP! It was loud enough that everyone on the bench heard it!!
I'm gonna try to get it finished or at least to be able to drive it out of the garage.
Thanks

bkfj40 09-17-2003, 01:39 PM your bed looks like mine....
the wife and I get a small little sliver of the king bed, the lab, german shepard and mutt take up the rest.
Labs sure do like the pillows and laying on the back, huh?
I guess I can't get you any VT tickets anytime soon. We could've gotten a pretty good contingency of cruiser heads to go to a game....we could rile up all those UVA jeepers :flipoff2:

Gawd! It looks like they took your foot off Sean! Is that normal with a broken fib?
IDave 09-17-2003, 06:21 PM Did that same thing to my fibula augering my tele ski (no release on the binding) into mashed potato snow a few years ago. Keeping it elevated sky high is about the best thing you can do: the dependent swelling is what hurt the most after 3 days (they operated on me 2 hours after it happened). Titanium plate still aches once in a while. Sorry to hear about it, Sean.
orangefj45 09-17-2003, 08:47 PM hope your surgery goes well tomorrow. must suck getting old and brittle!:flipoff2:
next time you have a lay-over in SF, come by for dinner again, you know our doors are always open to fellow cruiser heads. and there's always a spare guest room open also!
PS: need any porn tapes? cause you're gonna be booooored!:flipoff2:
kruzrtek 09-17-2003, 08:56 PM I'm with Chef on that. Looks like you're amputated in that pic!!
But I guess with the surgery, they'll put the rest back on?
OK, I got it!!
Get well man, to bad it wasn't Cruiser related. Then it wouldn't be SOOO bad. I broke my back, 4 ribs, both collar bones, and some other misc. crap when my Cruiser rolled 8 times down the mtn. Sucks bad. Still puttin' the 40 back together!!

FreeRide 09-18-2003, 09:29 AM Sean sorry to hear about your leg, at least we have some of the best orthepidists arround. I would know I've been to see a few. Sorry I havent been bye to see your truck lately, school keeps me a little busy. Mabey this weekend, I know where youll be!
Slowerthanu 09-18-2003, 10:58 AM That sucks. atleast you have the dogs to keep you company.
My Yellow is 98 pounds and loves cuddling:eek: . my mutt likes to wrap her 75 pound self around my head and my cat gets under the covers and attempts to implant himself in my armpit.
MD11Fr8Dog 09-20-2003, 07:05 AM Thanks for the kind words guys!! That previous pic, has my left foot elevated and my right leg bent. Nothing had been done at that point, just a splint. I now have a plate and 7 screws in my left leg. Worse than my doc was led to believe by the ER doc. Would have done me a day earlier if he had known, but otherwise a routine, for him, surgery!:D
The last 2 days were spent dealing with the drugs. I don't deal with narcotics well - head spins and nausea - and I'm glad that I'm almost done with the "nasty" (recreational to some others;) ) stuff.
Might be a couple weeks to a month before I can get into the garage, that's the worst news - - crutches and no weight bearing on my left leg.:(
Thanks again!!
orangefj45 09-20-2003, 07:07 AM you can always drag your decreped old butt to the garage!
glad to hear that surgery went well and you're back home!
that's a hell of a way to get a vacation!:flipoff2:
