My truck has been on jack stands for a little over a year, and although I ran the engine durring that time I haven't turned the wheel. I fabed up some steering this week and when I turned the wheel with the axle attached the box puked steering fluid all over the ground. It didn't spill any when I turned the box unattached and the engine wasn't on. This isn't normal is it?
JYS
where did it puke from? The res or the box itself?

I would think with axle attached it would have to build a lot more pressure so yeah I would think its normal
Yep, but it better be comin outa something thats supposed ta be open ;)

Alright, I worded it wrong, it came out of the res/pump. It just seems weird to me that it did that. (the axle was on jack stands, so there wasn't that much resistance on the box).

Dont take much more resistance to bleed the box... which is what that sounds like. Keep doin it till it stops :D

Without the engine running (IE the pump not running) turning the wheel will displace fluid back into the reservoir and will overflow. I wouldn't worry about until you have the motor running. Depending on the position of the plunger in the box you may displace a lot of fluid.
