Really I started to top it off with power steering fluid yesterday and noticed the sticker that is almost faded away on the resevoir and now I'm wondering do I use automatic tranny fluid in the power steering? help a brother out I can't find the manual.

I've always used Dexron II (now III) ATF in my FJ60s, FJ40s, and 4-Runners. Except when I put PS on my '71 FJ40 last month, I decided to go with PS fluid for a change.

I have used Dextron II in my saginaw P/S for years, but it doesn't have the same properties as the dealer recommended P/S fluid. I would recommend using what ever your vehicle manufacturer says.

What about in a mutt of a power steering system? I've got a GM pump, and a fj60 box. I hadn't heard anything about using ATF instead of ps fluid. Interesting...

Use either type of fluid, it does'nt matter one bit. I use Dextron ATF in all my PS systems (including my FJ60). Only real difference is that the clear power steering fluid costs alot more than ATF.

I also use ATF in my Saginaw PS system on my Cruiser and also in my 91 Toyota. I have not had any problems in years.

ATF and red P/s fluid = same shit, different bucket:smokin:
The clear stuff depends on the manufacturer, mineral or synthetic.
If its red, ATF is the go, or p/s fluid depends on what you have.
