My friend has a Cub Cadet riding mower, it is about 4 years old, 350 hours, 60" deck, hydro adjustable deck, power steering, hydrostat drive, PTO drive, 25 horse Kohler......He is asking 2300.00, but I feel I can get it for 2,000.00. He is just wanting a smaller mower ( he got it from his sister who won it out of divorce)
What are your feelings on this type of mower?

that mower was 5600 bucks four years ago, that is a deal if it has been taken care of.

Holy crap! The most expensive mower I've ever had was about $200 new! I guess you don't need much to mow dirt huh? :D

i can't understand why people buy "lawn-tractor" type mowers.
they suck.
half the time you are turning around in places you've already mown.
get a walk behind, or a ZTR. if your lot is less than an acre, has a lot of trees, or some hills, get a walk behind. if its big and flat, get a ZTR.
the walk behinds cut faster for 3 reasons:
1) you spend more time actually mowing since you aren't running over grass thats already been mown.
2) they have a higher blade speed, which means they can mow faster. this is usually because they don't have to haul around a 250lb rider.
3) you can mow a lot closer to things, often eliminating the need to go back and "trim" with a weedeater or smaller push mower.
when i lived next door to my parents, i could mow their yard with my walk behind in about 1 hour. it takes them about 2.5 hours.
start looking for a good used one. i paid $250 for mine that used a little oil (still does) but runs fine. its a gravely pro-50 (50" cut) 16 hp 5spd forward.
walking is good for you...my mower mows at about 3.5 mph (i timed it in a straight line).

My yard is flat 1.33 acres.......My brother had a walk behind once, had a sulkie ( think that is what it is called), but the mower was all the time getting stuck...It might be different if you were actually walking behind it......But I anint planning on walking behind a mower... I WANNA RIIIIIDE :)

At my old house we had a 5 acre lot and we had a ride-on.. it rocked. It did a GOOD job and made it much easier then a walk behind.

WTF you talkin' about? IF you know what you're doing and don't hit the corners at top speed you barely go over an area you've already mowed.
Unless you're double cutting your lawn.
Oh and BTW does your walk behind have a 3 pt hitch, till the garden and can push snow off the sidewalk????:p
