I know I'm planning waaayyy to far in advance, but what the heck. I'm seeing if anyone is interested in going out to Moab in early July of next year. Right after the 4th. Just trying to get a group to go out there. I hit up the clubs that I wheel with up here in MN, but no takers. Anyone????

Id be down for another moab trip, proving my junks got a new motor with FI by then.. which is definetly possible... and if I can get the time off work...

i have been to moab the last 2 sept.i love the place.but my family wants to make the easter jeep safaria this year,so july may be to soon to go again.but who knows...

Just a suggestion, but IMO you do not want to wheel in Moab in July, unless you and your rig can handle temps above 110 degrees on the trail.

I was there in July of this year. The temperature on Fins 'N Things was 116, so we decided to cool off doing Kane Creek stream crossings. Kane Creek was dry as a bone and even hotter - 118 degrees. Rose Garden Hill was cooler ("only" 111) and it got all the way down to 105 a couple of times. On a trail like Pritchett Canyon, you could probably guesstimate that it would be 10 degrees above those temperatures.

Our group never encountered another wheeler on the trails. Without complete preparation and lots of water, the weather conditions there at that time of year can kill you if anything goes wrong. I'll never go back in mid-summer again.

gerald is right,i was just there over labor day and the temp was over 100.maybe march or april,or even sept.just a thought...

Yeah, I've been thinking about that. It was just an easy time to go because I've got two weeks off work in July. I don't have to burn up any vacation days. I was talking to some local guys that I wheel with, and they all want to go to the Rubicon trail instead. So I'm thinking that's where we are heading instead. A bit cooler. Longer drive to get there, but ahhh well.

what are the best months to go

Anytime around EJS through Memorial Day is usually great weather; once you get into June, that's when it becomes a crapshoot - in June it might be fine but then again it might be over 100. I've also gone the first weekend in November when the leaves were changing and it was fantastic - the temperature was perfect, the sky was cloudless crystal blue, most trees were green, and the cottonwoods were bright yellow: contrasting beautifully with the red rock.
