I have a line on a whole wagoneer that I am thinking of putting the driveline into the scrambler I'm working on. It has a 360-th400-Quadratrac. I was wondering what my options were as far as transfercases go and what would bolt right up. I was hoping to use the d300 that came out of the scrambler (258-t5-d300) but I would like to try and avoid the cost of an adapter. Thanks

Lots of waggies out there that came with a spicer 20 case and th400 so that should be an option.

That's a good reference, except in one case it is wrong. It says that the TH400 with factory D20 adaptor will not mate to a D18. What it should say is that it cannot be mated to a D18 with the 29 tooth input gear. Works fine if you use a largehole case with the 26 tooth input gear.

Nothing bolts up without either an adapter, or a different tailhousing and output shaft (like Dean or Chuck noted). The Qtrac uses a unique bolt pattern and spline count on the tranny output.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll probably go the novak route and buy the adapter for the d300.

CSP the rear of the quad th400 is the same as a chevy th400 as far as the bolt pattern goes, the quad uses a intermediate adaptor plate and that stupid 12 spline ( i think its 12) shaft. you could take a 400 from a quad and mate it to almost any T-case, but the mainshaft will need to be changed and you will need an adaptor, not that i need to educate you i just got the impression that your post said the BP was different:flipoff2:

Thanks MC. I did know about the itermediate plate and that's what I was referring to with regard to bolt pattern. No other tcase will bolt up to the mounting surface where the QT bolts up.
