Check out alterstart on ebay. Go to ebay motors.com and search for high amp alternator. I just got a 180 amp GM alternator for my Jeep for $120 shipped and with a lifetime warranty. It is the internal regulated type with a 2 wire hook up. I have yet to run it, as my Jeep is still far from completed, but it looks and feels well built.

What did the 160 amp come out of? was it a 350 or a 454?
from the searches I've done here they use different brackets
and don't interchange easily. The highest amperage in stock
form that I have seen mentioned is about 110 amps. Would be awsome to get 160 from a stocker! Anyone else have any ideas
what to look for as far as a donor?

I have no idea what it came out of except it was a chevy pass. car the guy said. I found it by rummaging through his shelf of alternators in the back shop. They tested it right in front of me and it was puttin out right at 160 amps. :)
