I have spaceghost's adapter for sm420 to lc 3spd and have a few questions about the n307 bearing. Everyone around me wants about $60 for the bearing and I was wondering if that bearing is the same as the bearing at the rear of the tcase that is no longer being used? If it is the same is there any reason that I should not use it instead of buying a new $60 dollar one? I have no bearing on the front of the tcase now because I had an automatic in it and sold the tranny with the adapter and bearing.

One more question is the bearing that is being used at the front of the tcase for a stock 3spd to 3spd setup the same as what is supposed to be purchased? Wondering because my buddy is doing the same conversion and his still has the stock 3spd setup.

spaceghost if you read this we can do the email thing at davmil44@hotmail.com

Hey Joey,
I don't know if the discarded bearing can be used, i assume not because Warden's includes the loe307n bearing with their kit.

Just found this place A & W Bearing (http://www.awbearings.com/awbearings/directorydb.asp?Brand_Name=all&Part_Number=loe&product=B&image1.x=12&image1.y=9) which has them for $32.76 and they are in Texas.

I got mine from Erie Bearings (http://www.eriebearings.com) for around $36.

Hope this helps,

Hey, I am in the process of using that same plate. I had to tap the T case mount holes to fit the 7/16 bolts. The bolts would only go in from the back side. Check yours before you get started. The plate is top Notch and I would use another one any time! Thanks for the plate Spaceghost! I rebuilt my SM 420 and as a result I have a used one. It appears to be in good condition. Hmmmmm...... lets say Ohhhhhh........ free + shipping. I opted for a new one and I got it at Napa for $26.00. Let me know if you want it. By the way I will be in Yachats(I always spell that wrong!) on the 4th of July and it will cost ya a beer!

Good luck, Mike

Hi MikeC,
I'm reading that you could only run the 7/16" bolts in from the back side of the plate, and had to run a tap thru the holes.

I'm sorry about that, and thanks for the heads up, I'll go recheck the dozen I have ready to go. I hope that anyone who gets something from me, let's me know if there is any problem with the item. I do care, and will make it right.

Just to clarify the adapter's origin, it is based on Warden's latest version, not Extremebends. It does look similar, but is not clocked as far as the Extremebends plate. I have referred many to the Extremebends web site for the fine write up, by John.

If anyone wants more info, e-mail direct or check the signature link.

The EB plate is clocked about 5 degrees clockwise as seen in this comparison:

Well, I had turkey for lunch today, out on the trail.
Quit bitchin and go wheelin :flipoff2:

Wheeled with 2 turbo diesels, a jeep and a sami, that was cool. Troy and Robby swapped inline 6 cylinder Nissans into their rigs. Todd laid the Snipe on it side in a nasty section, and they decided the best recovery method was rolling him the rest of the way off the ledge. Everybody got to the high side (undercarriage) and pushed him over onto his roof and down the ledge. He added a quart of oil and off we went. We all winched several times, it was real slippery under all the leaves, and on the rocks.

I held my own with the big boys, took 1 bypass, but so did 3 out of the 5 of us. Broke a birf at the end of the day, drove it out after a quick assist from the cable to get over the 4 ft rock. Still sitting on the trailer, was too tired to unload when I got home.

3 of these guys just placed in Las Cruces, 2nd, 6th and 13th. They claimed this was much more technical than the competition.

Another good day in the books, at the Badlands in Indiana.
