What size of tires do you want to run? My 2.5" BDS lift is as stiff as my... So she rides like a tank. 4" would be real stiff. If wanna run 35"+, why don't you do a SOA?

Do a SEARCH over here Toyota Land Cruiser Talk (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11) for SOA.

BDS is overpriced and very stiff! :D You can find better lift options with more height than BDS, for less than tehir 2.5" setup. IMO, I liek BDS, but woudl search more around!

My freind put the 2.5" BDS suspension on his FJ60, and I didn't think it was too stiff. We looked around for other lifts for the 60, but they were extreemly expensive...Old Man Emu. He has since gone to a SOA, but it is a lot of work to set the caster on those front axles. You need to rotate the pinion up on thefront axle because the driveline is so short. You would also need to turn the driveline around, put the CV joint on the transfer case side. You will also need the crossover steering and long travel shock hoops to do it right. We put the All-Pro stuff on. Worked very well.

Overall, the SOA works much better, but to run 35" tires, you will probably still need to do some trimming.

4" bds springs are about 425 lbs/in. Not the softest spring out there, but FAR from a "stiff" spring. If you want a really soft and yet cheap spring, try tuff countrys. Their EZ ride springs are 295 lbs/in. Now if you want to talk about stiff springs, try some standard Warns... 672 lbs/in.  better have a desiel and a 15k lb winch. :D

Doing a SOA with stock springs will clear 35s no poblem. My 2.5" BDS SUA lift clears 33s with ease. Doing a SOA with stock springs will get about 5-6" of lift.

On my freinds FJ60, his 35s rub on the front of the wheel well at full articulation while the tires are turned. It is starting to take chunks out of his lugs on the MTRs he is running. I know it would seem that you could clear 35's with no cutting with that kind of lift, but the wheel well is only so big.

Just our experience with his rig.

What springs did he use? Stock??? How severe were they sagging? The only problem I've heard with using stock springs with a SOA, they'll sag/wear out real fast. Most recommend adding 1 long add-a-leaf to the pack.
