The ones I have seen hooks up to a tps so its only on wot..This will help with the amout of propne being used..There are alot of different systems from adjustable in cab valves to a switch in cab that changes flow rate..My buddy has a basic system and it gives him I think 100hp and 250lbs of tq.maybe more. Not sure on the number but its in that range. Its on an older cummins so its not set that high..He also runs a small tank and only uses the system to pull heavy loads and hills..His system is not always used but as far as useage goes on a day to day lenl I don't know the amount it would burn..There are some pretty bas ass systems out there that will really pump some power..Only down fall is the tank. They do have big tanks but there so ugly and noticable..I will find the link I have to the system and post it..

talk to this guy www.performancediesel.net or call www.bullydog.com ---you don't want to jury rig a setup as it can muck up your engine--detonation is bad--the good setups use a propane tank from a forklift run it to a regulator and use a hobbs switch to turn on the propane at a set boost pressure--propane enters right behind the airfilter---I have a setup that I've never used(no tank)(I think everything else is there though)--there may also be a switch to arm and disarm the system--the links above are the best in the biz to provide more info and systems---most guys use NOS now vs propane---chris

as far as useage goes, I left AZ, drove through NM and up into CO, then down to west TX, and then back home to AZ (read: LOTS of hills, 1900 miles) in a friend's propane'd 99 diesel pulling my 22' flatbed and crawlin' Jeep and didn't even burn 1/2 a BBQ tank's worth. The BBQ tank isn't the best for automotive use, but it's what he used and it did work. I'm looking at adding a chip to my '99 Cummins. Currently running a 4" into 5" exhaust and a K&N.

Is propane bad for the motor...?

yes and no--if used properly it's no prob, but if you dump too much propane in yes it can toast the motor---that's why you need to call the guys I gave you links to to figure out what you need and how to set it up--don't expect them to give you any info without buying something from them though --chris

You need to research what you do before you do it. It is easy to make power with diesel, propane works, but I like #2 much better.

You really don't need propane for a Cummins to make power. The Ford guys do it because they cannot get much power on #2 diesel alone.

Personally, I'd stick to some injectors and a fueling box before I go propane.
