I have a friend that wants to buy a 1985 chevy 1/2 ton and he wants to be able to lift it to clear 36 by 14.5's and the way that he is talking money is no problem. what would you guys reccomend for lift, axels, gears and lockers. and also what axels came stock in this years 1/2 ton. he wants it to be able to keep up with me in my toyota :flipoff2: anyways any help on this would be appriciated. thanks

4" and lots of fender trimming will clear the 36s, or 6" and just a bit of trimming. the 85 has 10 bolt axles (yuck) front and rear, the only things worth swapping to are a Dana 60F and a 14 Bolt rear (or possibly a 70 rear). Depending on the engine/tranny, either 4.10s or 4.56s should be sufficient, and still keep it drivable on the street. As for lockers, a detroit for the rear and an ARB for the front would be my choice. If money is no object, look into some sort of tcase doubler.

I'm running a 85 chevy and they come with 10 bolt and 3:08's definetly want to put d60 in front and corp 14 in rear like said before. Another idea would be to box the frame, they are good at flexing through the frame and that causes them to crack. Also I agree with orange zuk you want a ARB if front, their turning goes to shXt when they are locked in front.
