I want to rebuild a set of '76 axels. Is it difficult replacing bearings? Chassis manual says to also replace races. Will
I need special tools ie.... a press and special pullers.. or can
I use jaw puller to remove and piece of pipe to drive bearings in?
Thanks

Which bearings? If you re talking about wheel bearings, knuckle and rear axle shaft bearings, then these are relatively easy to change with simple tools (BFH, puller, drift punch). If you are talking about the 3rd member bearings, these can be replaced with a bearing puller, but a press makes short work of them. You will also need a dial indicator to set up the backlash and an inch pound torque wrench to set the preload. Setting up 3rd members is one of those things that is easy to screw up the first time if you are doing it by yourself, but it is not impossible if you pay attention tothe directions.

Talking about semi floating rear axel bearings, ones in axel tube
near the axel hub. Have you done 'em? was there a replaceable
bearing race??

A quick way to get the outer races out is to run a bird shit weld around the inside of the race and they just fall out.
