: Fatkid -- Tubing Bender

Hey Fatkid or anybody else who knows something about bending tubing!

We're considering picking up the JD2 model 3 bender or the pro tools model 105 bender. I know you have the jd2 and have had good results with it. Any drawbacks? Which is better in your opinion considering the price difference. Anything you'd pick up (options) from the beginning if you had to do it again? We've had a shatty a$$ed bender for a while and it just ain't cutting it anymore.

Thanks in advance!

WOW.......... so for 275.00 US you get the bender. Then you have to buy the floor bracket, all the dies, and attachments ............... Batteries are extra idea.

This would be another reason to stick to Pipe in my opinion.

The JD2 is awsome, Tin Bender and I have used it for just about everything we've done. As a matter of fact the JD2 was the back bone of our entire Southern Chapter of the Tin Bender Cult. I don't think you can get a better bender for the price, not to mention the quality of the dies. The only problem is getting it, they are so popular that it takes weeks somthimes months to get parts and dies for it. I think we waited almost 6 weeks once for a die. Oh and I wouldn't bother with the degree wheel or the stand (make your own) and hydro is nice.

My friend and I want to invest in one. We aren't sure which radius 1.5" die to get or 90, 180 bend. We are going to do alot of different tubing from cages to front clips etc. Whatchya think?

Thanks

We have a 1.5" 180* 5.5 center line radius (CLR) and I like it. When it comes to the radius for 1.5" we couldn't see using anything thinner than .095, and for the around $40-50 more you can get the 180*. The 180* paid for it self the first day, perfect for shock hoops. My .02:)

With all the different tubing sizes, are there any that are the same as Pipe? Pipe benders are cheap and easy to but. Is there any size tube that can be bent in a pipe bender?

I realy don't want to spend 10.00 a bend, or buy a tubing bender.
Otherwise, I will just go pipe and be done with it.

:D :D :D

I talked to the guys at Vanstant Ent. and there were cool until they quoted me $22,000 for a bender I was looking at! I managed to save quite a bit by buying from M-tech:)

Fatkid,
I want to get down and meet you guys. This is what I want to do with my Sami, but add some external tube to the fenders and the windshield. I'm not too worried about body damage, but I want to be able to drive home after rolling it on the weekend.

Also, I want to have it so I can put the doors back on and put the canvas back on the cab.
