I'm getting a JD3 for Christmas from my mom:cool: however, I need to buy the dies myself. So I was going to just get one from JD, however, there's a muffler shop going out business down the road that has a hydrauhlic bender with a bunch of dies. Could I just buy some dies from that shop? Are all dies interchangeable between benders or does the brand matter?

Someone said on here one time if they could figure out who the die suppliers were they could get dies for cheap: Ergo- there's a few die suppliers out there providing them for the many bender companies.

depends on how they attach, you need to look

all of the muffler benders i have seen use a similar design as a pipe bender, so the answer is no.
also between tube benders, i have seen a few different designs, so unless you know the dimensions of the dies you need you probly wont be able to "fit"something else.
your only gonna buy these once, get the right ones.
