Hey guys,

I just broke my TW Driveshaft. it was a 1310 cv with a 1310 u-joint. I broke off one of the ears on the u-joint part of the DS. I am thinking of getting a High Angle Driveline Atlas e-brake and then i would get a DS from jess also. I have a dynatrac high pinion 60 with dutchman shafts, detroit, and 4.10's, i am running 38.5 SX's, atlas 2 3.8, Ford t-18, and a 450+ hp 350. Now when i get the ebrake i want to order a shaft with a 1350 cv, slip and spline, and a 1410 u -jpint at the axle. My question is will i break a shaft in the axle before i break the driveshaft? I want the drivehaft to break before the axle shafts do, so with this in mind do i need to get a 1410 or can i get a 1350. also will i need the 1350 cv or should i just get the 1310cv.

Jess, if you answer this i sent you a email on saturday with the some questions and prices.

sounds to me like your going to have quite the bullet proof setup with some 1350's or 1410's... I would suggest keeping the joint as your fuse link rather than the axle shafts... U-joints are much cheaper than shafts. I would probably go with all 1350's. just my opinion. Post some pics of your jeep id like to see it. :D

Thanks Rockbuggy,

YOu hit the nail right on the head. I would rather break a u-joint on the driveshaft before i break the shaft or the axleshafts. I was thinking that the 1410 was a bit overkill but i only want to have to deal with this once.

So from the lack of posts i am either the only one that has ever considered this issue or you guys don't know the answer.

Has anybody seen jesse around? i would like his input on this issue, or maybe he could respond to my email.

my truck is vastly different from yours but i run a 1350 at the TC and 1410 at the dif, my chev (5800# empty) is much heavier then your jeep. if you have upgraded your shafts to 1.5 35spline you shouldnt be breaking them without incredible effort. I havent broken anything in my driveline other then a warn hub and the 1310 front CV.

I was thinking the same thing ExtremeCJ. I am putting a 14 bolt & front 60 in my cj7 and a HD output shaft on my D300. With 1410 joints I think the weak link moves to my transmission, a T5. I don't care if that goes as I have an sm465 sitting on the floor. But once that goes in, where is the fuse?

well thanks for the converstion today- scott- on this issue the 1350 joint on your 60 should be good unless you get a wild hare and decide to run 40's or bigger- i an sorry for the delay on e-mail- i am currently 25 in the hole - Jess
