I am starting to get ready to build my own and I am trying to figure out what brake ratio, and brake systems your using for the tube buggy?

search on yahoo for drag racing brakes. Almost any drag supplier will have what you need when it comes to brakes and steerin columns and other little things for a buggy.

Yeah I have looked at some of them but most of the pedal assemblys are for non-power assisted brakes. I would like to run hydro boost brakes with the buggy but I am just having a hard time picturing it in my head. I will be sitting directly above the motor and I know I will be using a colapsable steering column with removable wheel with full hydro steering. That I can visualize completely in my head but the breaking has me stumped right now? I will have to mount the booster and res under the floor. I think the pivot point for the pedal will have to be below that on the chassis to get the proper stroke???

http://www.stockcarproducts.com/pedassy.htm- Maybe this could help you visualize it a little bit. In the newest JP there is an add for MP Brakes, they have a small custom application booster and assemply. You might want to look into that at MPbrakes.com. http://www.mpbrakes.com/manual.htm here is some good tech about setting up manual brakes and the proper ratio and etc.

Thanks I think I have it all now. I just needed to see it. I think I may end up running one of the dual master cylinder setups that are shown on the Wilwood site.

Here is some good info about brake ratio and lots of other good info. Should have just looked here first.

I will be running the Ford dual piston calipers for the front and GM 3/4 ton single calipers on the rear would the 7/8 work for a buggy with 44's and weight around 4000lbs with tools parts and fuel?

I am running Chevy single piston calipers front and rear. I had a 1" bore and a 7/8" bore master cylinder and switched them both to 3/4". They work great now.

Sorry to dredge this thread up again but...
I need advice on a donor vehicle or vendor for a master cylinder/booster/pedal assy for my buggy.
I tried the MP brakes route but they dont do anything this big.
All I got is a D60 front with discs and a 14 bolt rear with discs.
The feller at MP said I needed a 1.25 master cylinder piston and an 11" booster.
Anyone?

www.hendrixmotorsports.com makes these mount kits for buggys that use stock toy truck pedals and master cylinders also uses the vaccuum boost for brakes

I see two pedals, are you running two master cylinders or do you have a clutch?
I was going to run a 1 ton booster and master cylinder but don't know if it will fit between the tubes. Is there a manual system that will work?
What are you using Camo??
Thanks
