I am building custom 4x4 suspension using Range rover Front radius Arms. I need a picture and dimensions of the Mount bracket attached to the 86/88 chassis.
From the size of the bush it appears that the radius arms mounts through a tube welded in the bracket. Does anybody have a picture and dimension so I can fabricate the brackets.
Thanks
Matt

you might be best just to buy a couple of front bushes and see what size tube they would slot into. The fron radius arm bushes are not a super tight fit in the tube so if you find one that allows you to squeeze the bushes in by hand and they are held reasonably tight, then you should be fine.

He is asking about the chassis end. It is just a gussetted plate, with a big bush. Sorry no RR to take a picture of. If nobody pipes up, I'll shoot a picture of the 90, as I'm sure it is the same (or close enough)

Thanks Fisha for help. :)
As a last resort I was going to do what you suggest, but I was not sure how tight the bushes should be in tube and wether they compress to a certain size/length in the tube. I'll have to resort to trial and error otherwise.
As soon as I have made the mounts I can get on with making axle mounts, coil mounts etc.

The following details/measurements of the chassis mount, where the rubber bushes are fitted, were taken from old mounts cut off a 79 rangie chassis. The mounts on my 84 rangie look to be the same, I don't know about later rangies.
It consist of 2 "back to back" 1/8" thick plate pressings. Welded to the front and back of these are 3/8" thick plate bosses 2-1/2" outside diameter, making a total through thickness of 1". There is a 3rd 1/8" thick plate pressing that provides additional structural support but this is outside the 2-1/2" diameter boss.
The chassis mount is bored to accept the rubber bushings. The bore measured just over 1-7/16" probably 1-7/16" diameter new. Both ends of the bore are rounded approx 3/32" radius to suit the radius at the step in the rubber bush.
The rubber bushes for early rangies (the 79 that I measured) are smaller than those for 110 defender and later discos. I measured an old bush from the same 79 rangie and some new bushes for 110/disco that I am using in my own project.
The old rangie bush was 2-1/8" outside diameter for a length of 15/16", then stepped down to just under 1-7/16" diameter (probably 1-7/16" before wear) for a length of 1/2" (total length 15/16" + 1/2" = 1-7/16"). The worn bore was 29/32" diameter (the mating shank of the radius arm is 7/8" diameter).
The new 110 defender bushes are 2-1/8" outside diameter for a length of 1-1/8", then stepped down to 1-33/64" diameter for a length of 1/2" (total length 1-1/8" + 1/2" = 1-5/8"). The bore measured 1-1/32" to 1-3/64" diameter.
I intend to bore the new chassis mounts to 1-7/16" for the 110 defender bushes and my control arms will be 1" diameter where the bushes fit.
Going by a thumbnail impression test, the duro/hardness of the old rangie bush is higher than the 110 defender bushes, but this might be due to aging of the rangie bush.
BTW rubber is easily deformed but can't be compressed (it's volume reduced) - it's poisson's ratio of approx 0.45 is highest among common materials, compared to approx 0.28 for steel. So if you make the bush over tight in the both the chassis mount and on the radius arm they won't all fit together (a trap for the unwary ) - the rubber has to be able to deform somewhere.

John your a star!
Just the sort of info I needed. Shall start taking measurements tomorrow ready for fabrication of mounts.
Thanks again!

Any pictures at this stage would be great! Have got measurements to hand but trying to picture it in my mind may lead to something comletely different.
Thanks for your help
Matt:)

Still no PICS?
Another thought.
Standard rubber bushes or Polybush?
Will use rig for 25% off road use only!
