im thinking about getting one and was wondering what i should get. i was thinking i could get like flames on my arm that start near the wrist, fade in and continue up about 6". im thinking about having the artist blend the initials NMH into the flames near the top, in honor of my friend that just died. kinda hard to explain, but the initials would be sorta tall and lanky and look like part of the flame.

is this a good idea? any others?

thx.

I think 90% of tattoos out there are trendy and pointless. That is why I have no plans for one. :D

frickin flamer!

Shane....like I said alot of people to get them because they're trendy. There are some that I think are cool because they have a meaning behind them...

I dunno I just can't see myself getting a fat flame/skull/bogger tracks/whatever for no reason. :D

get something you will like looking at every day for the rest of your life and incorperate a personal meaning in with it

Don't get tats where everyone can see them. My "no zones" are neck and forearms. Anywhere else is fine. The tat your talking about could easily start at you ankle and up the calf and shin area. And don't tell me it hurts too much down there, cause I know. You put a tat on your forearm or neck and your already judged by anyone who sees you, which for the most part is no big deal, right, who gives a fawk what others think, but it'll hurt you when looking for a job, closing business deals, meeting family, etc.

if the ink you get means something other than being "trendy" as said in an above post. As you've already said what you are thinking about does have meaning go for it...

as far as bogger tracks go I'm leaning toward a tread pattern on my left leg starting under my foot on instep and heading upward across the front of my lower leg and off my knee. probably tls pattern working on a way to incorporate sx sidewall pattern in some how not sure how just yet. And yes it does have meaning it's where I was ran over this spring actually struck then ran over, so indeed it does have meaning

Just reinforcing what many have said.

Get it where you can hide it

Don't get something generic. If you wanna do something with your buddy's initials, ask around about a good local artists and work with that artist on a unique custom design.
Not only will you get a better tattoo, but the artist, as an artist, will be happier doing a unique piece of his own work rather than just filling in the lines on another flame tat.

 no offense here, but if your asking people what you should get for a tatoo you shouldn't get a tatoo. i have 3 and never asked what i should get. get what you want and then live with it

Depends dude, I have never ever had a problem with my tatts in terms of employment. Not once. I look at it this way, with a forearm you can put on a long sleeve shirt for business if it's gonna cause a problem. Neck, face, or hands are a different story.

I understand the initials and why you would want those but why the flames? Do they have some meaning to you? Do they somehow stand for something with your friends initials or do you just think they would be cool? Will they still be as cool to you when you're twice your age? Just something to think about ;) :roxy:

well it wouldnt exactly be flames, but kind of a design like flames but it would be like a metallic color, like paint tearing away. thats what he had painted on his jeep. i dont know what im going to get and i have plenty of time to decide.
