I wanna hear the techno babble about propane and octane ratings. I am hearing that for some reason propane has almost as much separation in rating as regular to super unleaded. I sure as anything wouldn't pull up to Joe's gas and just pump whatever came out of the nozzle!! What would cause such as vast difference? Is it the particular manufacturer? U.S. or foreign LPG? Time of year? Individual distibutor or retailer?
Let the science convention begin! :D

Guess not! Thanks for the :barf: newbie ... :flipoff2:
....told me it runs in the 100-107 range. So even if there is a variation in the rating you will still be in the 95+ range. Still better then pump gas.
I also understand that part of propanes differences come in the fact that it burns slower then gas. This, morso then the octane, is why it requires so much advance and a faster advance curve.
I would think that as long as you are conservative in the inital timeing, and advance curve you should never have a serious spark knock problem unless you are running very high compression or cylinder pressure that is abnormaly hiogh for your given compresion ratio.
In my 10:1 SBC I run about 22 degrees initial timing and almost 40 degres all in by 2000 RPM and I have had no detonation or pre ignition problems yet although so far I have only driven on the street and not gotten on it for a long pull under load due to lack of brakes.
