So a formula toy is just a toy frame, engine/tranny/t-case and axles with a tube chassie?

I have discovered that this is exactly why all my builds take so damn long. :D

Keep the updates coming, I can't wait to see it finished. :D

Nick

ya, its for a spec class to run toy frame, carb 22r, stock toy tranny, toy cases (regearing allowed), toy axle housing/knuckles (upgraded axle shafts allowed), 4.10 and any locker for the stock third, and leaf sprung suspension. i think i got most of it but check out www.formulatoy.com for all the details.

im sure many people will be building though just cuz its an inexpensive way to build a trail buggy without having to buy the tubing, design etc even if you may have all the tools to do it your self.

This is my friend Erics buggy(elcornus on the board) he started with an 84 standard cab..I think he will be using as many of the parts off is truck as he can to keep it affordable..right now he has chevys w/add a leaf and 89 rears in front...I think the chevys are going changed but as of right now he's happy with the front...probably no more picture worthy work untill this weekend

See what happens when you don't check the board for a while cause your trying to get your junk built. Someone starts a thread about the junk your building! :flipoff2:

Many:beer:  's for rustyPOS for all his help and knowledge in getting this thing done!
And for letting me build it at his house, and for keeping me motivated, I'm gonna let him be the first to flop it!

We will try to keep the pic.s coming :D

Can you take some measurements for us?

-ground to bottom of frame?
-ground to lowest point on tcase crossmember
-ground to center of crank?
-tire size and psi?

I like the radiator hoop, looking good.

27 1/2"
25 1/2" for now..still waiting to rotate rear pinion and check drive shaft angle and raise/lower if needed (hopefully raise)

34 1/4"
38.5 X 14.5 @ 12 psi (guess)

I was thinking of lowering it a 1or 2.
rusty are you sticking with these #'s
Wilson what are you shooting for?

Wilson
10-21-2003, 05:24 PM
I'm at:

28"
24"
29"
37" MTR's @30 psi

I'm looking for comparisons mostly. I have formula chasis #004, but I am building a rec buggy with it. I'm running a 350/sm465. The 465 is killing ground clearance, but I should be able gain some back by clocking the toy case. One more comparison q, What is your top of cage height? I'm at 71.5"

Nevermind about my original post. Is there a reason that you decided to go with the hendrix Xchassis Vs the Toy Formula chassis?! I plan on placing my order soon (if i can make up my mind) and I am not sure which one to get, although I do plan on mounting it to the frame of probably a 1984 toyota pickup. What are the ups and downs of both when mounting them to the 1984 toyota frame?

camo
12-10-2003, 01:16 AM
forumla toy welds to a toy frame and uses leaf spring suspension and a X chassis is a full tube chassis that requires a custom 4 ling and coil overs. they look similar but are completly diffrent setups.

if your gonna use a frame then you want the formula toy

SpLiZaaT
12-10-2003, 12:57 PM
but why'd he use the xchassis and throw it on a frame? I must have missed somethign :(

Dustin

He didn't use the x chassis, He used the formula chassis.
